Mercury in Libra 2020 : Cardinal Crushing

Image : Sophia Loren

It’s that time of the month, for that special kind of 2020 intensity that late 2020 Astrology continues to deliver through the cardinal crush. Now its Mercury in Libra who is doing the death weave through Mars, Saturn and Pluto territory. Right now, its ALL the hard feels as Mercury IS in a very tough spot and delivers to us messages and information about our relationships and connections to Mars (power, anger, aggression), Saturn (constriction, guilt, fear) and Pluto (control, entrapment).

Mercury, although more prepared for this planetary offensive than other planets, it doesn’t detract from the great deal of discomfort or besiegement being felt over the past few and next three days.

Adding to this funky situation Mercury finds itself in, is also the RETROGRADE factor. As Mercury will be retrograding back to this point or degree during its Retrograde, which begins in October. Meaning, what is happening now especially with regards to our relationship to the above themes will be coming back up in early November, helping reposition and rectify the issues being raised.  The information your receiving now about your position around these difficult Mars, Saturn, Pluto themes, is and will change and evolve!

On top of this funky Mercury vibe, the Moon has JUST entered Capricorn, for its monthly transit of all the previously mentioned planetary themes. The Moon in Capricorn is heavily amplifying the emotional intensity of the next few days. So be mindful, restful and do engage with feelings that come up from ‘nowhere’ or any internal or external pressures that are currently rising.

Mercury will connect with the Moon as they both leave Libra and Capricorn respectively on Saturday, exchanging vital intel from both their meetings and interactions with Mars, Saturn and Pluto.  Intel is SUPER strong right now, and it’s going to come back up in the first week of November, so engage and communicate with it, there is gold to be mined from this astrology. Although mining has never been a fun or clean business.

Sun Opposite Saturn – Cardinal Chess

Deep in darkness, restriction and burdens weigh heavy. Hours after the New Moon in Cancer, its effects are heightened with the Sun’s opposition to Saturn. The Sun’s light revealing the cracks, as it pours light from an opposing angle, allowing a new view of what has been bound together and constructed.

This occurring deep in the darkness of the ‘new’ moon, IS hard. Waiting for the moons first crescent of light to hatch, is uncomfortable. When this light is shed La Luna is finally able to help, lessen the intensity of feeling and emotion. Until then, this is where we will be.

The cracks and stress fractures are currently well-lit and obvious. The Sun opposite Saturn makes any weakness apparent, any regrets glaringly obvious. We will be sitting with this, waiting and wandering, lamenting as we gather ourselves for the Sun to progress into Leo on July 23rd.

When the Sun enters Leo, we are welcomed with its warmth and more inspired to play in its light.  It is at this time that the first of the moon’s new light begins to shine down upon us. Allowing us to move forward with the insights gleaned over this challenging dark moon cycle. Until then we sit and a wait, processing as we anticipate the return of the King, and the Sun’s entry into Leo.

New Moon in Gemini 2020

Screen Shot 2020-05-22 at 10.26.59 am
The Gemini New Moon occurs 23 May (AEST) at 2 degrees of Gemini. The New Moon or Dark Moon ( if you observe the New Moon from its first crescent of light) is where the Sun and Moon meet. The Sun and Moon align, and the Moon is unable to reflect the Sun’s light, creating darkness, a resting phase, a silent pause and space to let go and release. Restoring it’s strength for the beginning of a new Lunar Cycle.
Mercury rules the New Moon and is strong as it’s currently in its ruling sign of Gemini. Mercury, also encounters a Retrograde Venus, conjoining it at the time of this New Moon, creating an emphasis on Mercury and Venus themes for this new lunar cycle; including: What are your Values ? ( Are the Values you hold close really being communicated especially in Relationship or Friendship ?). How you communicate, relate & network (Are you drawing people in or driving them away?), Are these really “Your” People ?, What you consume/ingest as information (is it pleasurable and of value ?), How do you bring people together to create new ideas and possessions (Does it appeal to the right people ?). It’s all highlighted by this New Moon.
New Moons are releases, endings and new beginnings. Mercury at its strength, and Venus conjoining him, but going backwards, creating, introspection, reassessment, evaluations and allowing a pausing moment, to look at the above themes for future flourishing and growth. This is a quiet time, but powerful time to really deepen and evolve and aligning yourself with better values and stronger appeal in both Mercurial and Venusian pursuits.
Saturn in Aquarius trine this New Moon, gives a longevity and more secure quality, creating  a supportive role, allowing for time to develop and ground these actions /decisions over a longer time scale…. Hinting that implemented changes, will have a strong foundation to grow from.

Saturn into Aquarius : Anything is possible

Screen Shot 2020-03-21 at 4.27.46 pm

22 March 2020 at 1500 AEST, Saturn ingresses into Aquarius, for the first time since early 1994, beginning a new Saturn Cycle. March 22ndoffers us a 3-month introduction, before it goes back into Capricorn, before the final ingress into Aquarius in Dec 2020, where it will stay for 3 years.

Historically Saturn in Aquarius seems to bring large technological changes and brings marginalized groups strongly into focus and frame. 22 March – 2nd July 2020 will give an insight into where the challenge is to evolve over the next 3.5 years. Remembering, that Saturn is the traditional ruler of Aquarius. Saturn’s traditional rulership makes it strong in Aquarius, helping it carry through or alter any work established in Capricorn. But extending it via the Aquarius lens. Saturn gives these two signs a commonality, it is how they express it which leads to their difference.

The last time Saturn was in Aquarius, we saw the deconstruction of the USSR (26 December 1991 at 2 degrees of Aquarius)  . Allowing independent states, who were always ethnically and culturally different, gain independence from the Communist banner of the USSR. Also, a thing called “The Worldwide Web”  aka The Internet was for the first time, introduced to the public for mass consumption. Yes, the Internet is having its Saturn return. With so much going on right now in the world, seeing Saturn shift from a heavy and more private / Yin earth sign into a masculine and detached Air sign, may offer some small relief.  Having the elemental shift from a loaded Earth sign to Air, breathes life and ideas into an atmosphere, which has been so heavily dominated by earth for the past 2 years. Positive for our Air folk. (Libra, Aquarius and Gemini). Innovation is also very much an Aquarius theme.  Saturn’s ingress into Air, frees up some of the rigid obstacles and challenged  we currently face.

With regards to the current situation in Australia at least. I wouldn’t be surprised at its ingress, if the Australian Government, closes down the state boarders and air travel to help contain the movement of Covit 19. Governments restricting the movements of its people, to help protect the safety of our broader community. Saturn (restriction and government law) Aquarius (the community and groups.) We have already seen and will most likely see more financial protections for people who are financially marginalized/exposed in the community, by this pandemic. This protection may expand to groups who have been previously exclude, due to the threats being so serious, and unprecedented.

Saturn in Aquarius tomorrow, it may see some revolutionary and new inventive strategies to help stem this building Covit 19 pandemic.  Only time will tell, with regards to what and how Saturn in Aquarius will present, but boy what a time to come to the party.

Saturn Pluto : The Changing of The Guards

Photo : Mary McCartney

Saturn Pluto = 22 degrees of Capricorn Jan 12th / 13th 2020

Welcome to the 2020s, where things get a little freaky early on, with the alignment of Saturn and Pluto on 12/13 January.   The 2ndweek of the New Year, is quite something to behold, feeling the catalyst, the tipping point for change, a changing of the guard or a new operating order or paradigm, its being formed. Richard Tarnas labels this conjunction, “Cycles of Crisis and Contraction”, in his Great book, “Cosmos and Psyche”, and after years of speculation, it’s finally upon us.

2019, held a strong pulse of this as we lead into the, January 12/13th, Saturn & Pluto conjunction. Anointed by some as apocalyptic, others have described as the fascist conjunction, it’s certainly a pressure cooker, as established power structures and unseen power forces collide. History and events that have occurred during past intonations of this conjunction have not been kind. Seen as large marker point for social change and even dismantlement of Society as we knew it at that time. We are now at this point of history, once again.

Saturn and Pluto conjunctions occur every 33 to 38 years, and have an aggressive, de-stabling of power & quality to them. Power, abuse of power, over-use of power, control and dismantling are all strong themes aligned with the conjunction. The 2020 hook-up occurs in Capricorn, Saturn’s Ruling sign, the significations towards Government, Global Reputations, Control, Money and Conservatorship have never been so strongly at the forefront; for a seemingly larger dis-enchanted Global Population. Pluto introduced the theme of financial disruption, when it entered Capricorn January 2008. The immediate manifestation and impact was the World GFC. The 2020 Saturn Pluto conjunction will put great pressure on, this model, which was interrupted with the GFC, and look at how sustainable both fiscally, and perhaps environmentally, it really is. Saturn Pluto are the Ultimate Power Games or Star Wars.

The last Saturn Pluto conjunction occurred in 1982 in Libra. The peak of the Cold War, Ronald Reagan, an actor, was President of The United States, not that dis-similar to the current President. Margaret Thatcher was in Power in the UK. Cuts to Public Service, Free-market Economies was the new economic survival mode. Thatcherism& Reaganomics were sweeping the West and became a new Western Government standard. Free-market Economies, Privatization of Government Services was unheard of before this point. It was what we “needed” to survive the economic issues of the time.

Previous to the 1982 conjunction, there was the Saturn Pluto Conjunction of 1947/48 which saw, India and Pakistan separated by a new invisible land boarder by the British, separating families and religious boundaries, creating physicality to something that was always more loosely defined. The creation of Israel, from Palestine and the carving up of the new boarders in the Middle East also occurred at this time, the issues around this, are still not resolved. The Conjunction before that, saw events precipitate and create the beginning of World War 1.  Crisis and Contractions indeed, Saturn Pluto have demonstrated many times just this century alone, the power it has, to change the global landscape of the world we live in over and over again, for power and control.

The opposition of Saturn and Pluto, of which this conjunction is the closing cycle of, was when the September 11thterrorist attacks occurred in the United States. Creating the marking point of the current global climate and politics in which we live. Interestingly enough, Saturn was in Gemini in the 9thHouse of Devoted Religious beliefs and Philosophy and Pluto was in freedom loving Sagittarius in the 3rdhouse of local neighbourhoods and day to day environments, when this attack happened, showing the great impact and  literal manifestation, this combo can create, in such tragic ways.  The fall out of such a deplorable act against humanity, reflects the depths that these 2 planets will go to push their respective agendas, it is with the current January 2020 cycle that we see these 2 mighty forces come together again to potentially reconfigure the world landscape, once again.

The recent rise of Brexit, Local and regional Nationalism, refusal of rights for refugees and the continued changing landscape of global politics, demonstrate clearly that we are currently living in Saturn Pluto times. The purpose of this article is not of prediction, but one must observe, the recent influence and obvious signs of climate change. The realizations that our planet is not able to sustain life as we know it, is a potential avenue for such Plutonic change, in this 2020 cycle, as it has been bubbling away for most of 2019.  This outcome of this observation remains to be seen, but the resistance of government to address or recognize the issue is a potential sticking point, and an area that is due for cataclysmic change. It will be interesting to see what sets the agenda pre and post Jan 12/13th2020.

Two days before we have this exact conjunction, will see a lunar eclipse also on the Capricorn Cancer Axis, reinforcing the themes of Home, Resources, Nurture, Sustenance and Protection vs Governance, Society, Power Structures, Money and Rulership.  Eclipses are shadow points, darking of the luminaries, effects and results are never seen or witnessed at this exact time, this also blurs or darkens the scope of the Pluto Saturn conjunction which occurring at the time of the Eclipse. Basic terms, this time frame will be clouded from obvious direct indications of what direction the pressure points will transmute from. But the pressure points will still be felt and activated.

The 3rdTransit this week, which will merge and melt into all of the above. which also occurs at the Eclipse, is the Mercury Cazimi, also in Capricorn. It the perfect antidote, for insight, in the weeks ahead. Mercury, conjoining the Sun, which is being eclipsed by the Nodal axis at the Cancer Full Moon, pulls in the Mercurial to an already intensive week of confrontation and challenge. Mercury, having its full pallet cleansed, burning away all the side issues holding it back from addressing the real issues at hand, will be very interesting to see unfold. Like all Mercury Cazimi, we will not find our way with this until late January, after the New Moon in Aquarius, and once Mercury moves past 6 degrees of Aquarius.  But what the Cazimi does offer, is a chance to reset our voices and opinions, amongst all this overwhelming aggressive, constraining and conflictive energy to give resource and clarity on how to move past or through the proverbial mire.

January, is an unusually heavy and volatile Moon, proceed with caution. But to end with a quote from Richard Tarnas, about the Saturn Pluto conjunction, “We can see here too that the other side of the Saturn Pluto gestalt: The noble fate binding of one’s strenuous efforts to the chain of human destiny, which creates an enduring good and forges a deep and permanent moral development in Human Evolution”.

“In this 1982 painting, the figure wears a three-pointed crown – a prominent symbol in Basquiat’s visual lexicon. The figure stands defiantly with one arm raised. Basquiat’s crown has many potential meanings, but here may be read as a symbol of majesty, endurance and triumph.” NGV, describing a painting by Jean – Michel Basquiat, created at the last Saturn Pluto conjunction.

Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn – Relating to Relations

The Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn tomorrow is conjoined Saturn, our keeper of lessons, the master of restriction and it will oppose Venus; the bringer of joy and cohesive Relationships, in Cancer. This eclipse on the South Node is allowing the release of old ideas around relationships, while opening a space for new formations, as the South Node has a purging effect on the planets its aspects.

Saturn conjoined the South Node, means these may be long standing patterns that are plum ripe to be let go of.  Self – limiting mindsets around relationships, have a helping hand in being let go of, as this Cancer / Capricorn Axis is activated fully for the first time in this eclipse series.  Eclipses ARE the gateways of change.

Cancer and Capricorn speaks to the see-sawing around nourishment, person comforts, protection and space VS the need to exert oneself into the world, in an attempt to be seen with a long list accomplishment, no matter what the barriers.  Cancer doesn’t always feel comfortable in propelling its self into the world to be exposed and vulnerable,  whereas Capricorn isn’t always able to see that looking after one’s self or the care of those they hold the nearest and dearest; can be of more value than Status, Power or Money it chases. This is the sea-saw motion being navigated by tomorrow eclipse, with Venus and Saturn being drawn into the mix allowing for a purging of Old Value Systems around Relationships and Power, between yourself and the environments you seek to climb. Some very old stories might be dredged up at this Eclipse. It’s time to restore the balance if it has become uneven, or to let go of the stuff that is blocking the path forward. Where do you need to open yourself up more?

Venus isn’t having the best time opposing the South Node, Pluto and Saturn.  However, post eclipse, allows for a fire purging of Venus, burning off the residual of all that is trying to constrain her momentum forward.  This Post Eclipse burn off, when Venus is meeting the Sun then opposing Pluto, is a road she must travel to revitalise and purge allowing her to make the most of the new cycle, which awaits. Saturn which always limits and controls, will be asked by the Moon & The South Node, to delved deep into emotional waters, to separate and strip what is not needed in this new phase and what has been out grown and superfluous.  The South Node/Saturn conjunction last longer than the actual eclipse. But tomorrows eclipse speeds up the urgency and blocks out the light to allow the purging and releasing to take place,  as we make our way to an exciting and contrasting Leo Season ❤️💫🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕💥www.thebrujamix.com

June & July 2019: Wielding Fortitude

Solar Eclipse: 3 July in Cancer 05:15 AEST @ 10°

Lunar Eclipse: 17 July in Capricorn 07:38 AEST @ 24°

Mars in Cancer: 17 May – 2nd July (Challenging aspects from 11 June onwards)

Mercury Retrograde: 8th of July (S RX) – 1st of August (Station Direct) 16 August (out of the retrograde degree.)

The Solstice annually marks the beginnings of the Sun’s movements through The Cancer & Capricorn Axis points. Cancer and Capricorn are signs that mark the greatest imbalance of Light and Dark, no matter what sphere you live in. Reflecting the extremes of the light and dark in the physical world as we know it.

Since the ingress of the Moon’s Nodes, the Eclipse points, or Rahu & Ketu into the signs of Cancer and Capricorn (Nov 2018 – July 2020) this axis point has become a more sensitive and accelerated area for growth, and modification.  These are points of change and create a deep push pull effect, working through deep and sensitive plot points of one’s life.  The Eclipses of 2019 take place in Capricorn and Cancer. Meaning if you have any planets in Cardinal Signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn – you will be more directly affected. Planets in Capricorn or Cancer are directly being moulded, modified or purified. Planets in Libra and Aries are being affected by reverbs of these Cancer and Capricorn symphonic clashes.

Capricorn currently has a longer, slower, deeper and at times invisible story unfolding, with the 15-year transit of Pluto through it sign, creating situations and experience of deep modification to the areas of life, that Capricorn planets or points the sign rules over, in one’s birth chart. Pluto transit’s in duration are the longest and slowest of the Zodiac, as well as being the deepest and at times confronting and arduous. Any planets or points that Pluto hit, are hijacked for plutonic redress.

Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn is halfway through its transit of its home sign, making Saturn especially dignified and strong in its current restructuring and Strength testing, of   all that sits in the Capricorn realm.  Since December 2017 this has been working in direct connection with Pluto in Capricorn, by first sign and then aspect. It is creeping closer to conjunction in January 2020. Saturn is challenging the strength of ideas and concepts that are being build or trying to come to fruition, through day by day labouring.  Pluto and Saturn are industrial purging and structural change agents. Since November 2018, Pluto and Saturn have had Ketu or the South Node join the industrial party.  Pluto and Saturn are currently working towards a conjunction in 2020, in Capricorn. The last time this occurred was 1982, at the height of the Cold War, and the rise of Neo Liberalism in Western Government Policy. Saturn Pluto is seen as drastic times of economic change and conflict. More on this cycle in another post.

Ketu or the dragon’s tail is a purging and detoxifying energy. Ketu is pushing for release of things that are not essential or spiritually aligned to the planets or areas of life, its transiting. Ketu is directly affecting the Capricorn, area and placements.  Ketu is joining and working with Pluto / Saturn and is creating an intensified experience. The Pluto Saturn and Ketu transits are catalyst of change pushing you to purify the grounds and environments your seeking to master or conquer.

Capricorn experiences are anything that is slow, and an area of life which reaches maturation over a long period of time. Capricorn energy is about things that you believe are solid, and sure footed.  This solidity allows for feeding of, and creation of gains and overall reward after sacrifice and hard work. But what Pluto and Ketu are doing is adding 2 almost invisible layers of disruption, testing, to see if these structures are truly aligned with you and your forward momentum to the top of the proverbial mountain. Why climb to the top of a dormant or landslide prone mountain? The current planetary transits are testing this sure footedness. This energy will begin to separate by late October, once Ketu clears from its separation from Saturn.

In the Cancer corner, Cancer the only Cardinal Sign in Water.  It is emotional source energy, protected and hidden way by a Crab shell, a tough front, water is hidden away behind strong barriers.  Cancer is the opposite sign of Capricorn. Cancer energy is strong, intuitive, protective, nurturing and sweetness fortified by a protective armour. Once it allows you into the sphere, this is when Cancer energy can really be worked with and enjoyed. Cancer like Capricorn is hard yin.  Where you have Cancer in your chart, is where, what you most treasure is tucked away, protected from the storms, protecting the source of emotion and intuition.  Cancer energy is like a precious spring well, an individual keep hidden away, until trust has been gained, to share the source.

Cancer, has been experiencing Saturn and Pluto from its opposite sign, challenging this protective method. Meaning any planets or areas of life that are in the sign of Cancer have had this constant stress, purification, change, strength testing around its Source energy, for a few years now. The 2020 conjunction will directly affect Cancer planets and points. Putting real pressure on keeping its Water Wells, clean and protected, in the face of constant challenge from its opposing sign Capricorn.

Rahu or The North Node has been transiting Cancer since November 2018. Rahu, like Ketu, they are direct opposites, they operate together, by moving together as constant opposites. Rahu brings a new dynamic to the Cancer Sphere. Where Ketu detox’s or purges, Rahu devours and is hungry, and constantly consumes, like hungry ghost energy.  Eclipses were thought to be an animal devouring the Sun, Rahu energy, is the devourer of the Sun and Moon. Rahu has an endless hunger and consumption, without proper ability to digest, or nurture being the bi-product of this endless consumption. Rahu can push you into areas or can provide opportunities to change and evolve, however, Ketu must also be brought into the equation. As they balance each other. Like a good food diet – the Nodes are constantly balancing consumption and processing. Managing their push pull is complex is part of the astrological process of June and July. Rahu and Ketu don’t necessary do this on their own naturally. It is through awareness, that mastery of the Rahu and Ketu can begin.

This June and July, we see Mars and Mercury transit Cancer, acting as triggers and accelerating by applying fast acting pressure to these longer-term transits highlighted above. This is creating the volatile environment of June and July. Mars & Mercury will be putting lots of pressure on to the deeper and darkest corners. June and July have great potential to create tension, explosions or confrontation. There will be challenges and questions about the roads we are currently on, especially around, Status, Family, Ancestry, Rooting, Home and Building for the Future.

Mars is in its Fall in Cancer, Mars and Cancer are not comfortable bed fellows. Mars is fast, aggressive, reactionary, Yang Fire. Cancer is slower, more cautious, protective, Yin Water. Mars entered Cancer on May 17thbut by June 11th we see Mars begin to activate Saturn, Pluto and The Nodes, by opposition and conjunction. Mars is setting the frame work for a very active Solstice period.  Mars is very much the aggressor of this situation. Being in its sign of its fall, it doesn’t operate as it should. Mars in Cancer can see explosions of pent up and emotional anger or aggression. Rahu and Ketu can add, a deeper level of repressed emotional trauma or ancestral trauma. Saturn and Pluto – also speak to this concept of clearing out deep emotional trauma leading the way to better foundations or reconciliation.

Mars transiting Cancer, sees a match stick being raised and set. Not allowing Mars to burn off the deadwood, in a wet environment, is where trouble could be caused. This contrary situation (Water and Fire) means Mars WILL find other outlets to do its job, if the steam isn’t let off. The outcome might become more explosive than needed or required. So, if things do heat up, don’t smother them, the aim is to control the fire (like a planned burn off) rather than avoiding the fire, because you wanted to hold on to the dead wood. Mars is tricky this month, work with it.

Mercury will come to play as it enters Cancer on June 5th, Mercury is naturally fast and is a problem solver whose speed and rational brings intellectual smarts to the table. However, Mercury begins to slow down in June and turns Retrograde July 8th, beginning its retrograde cycle in Leo/Cancer.  This Mercury retrograde, timed perfectly after Mars’ transit of Cancer, activating all the sticky points of the chart, really speaks to the 3-fold effect which is building around this time frame and the purging and re-visioning of our Capricorn / Cancer axis of our lives. Mercury Retrograde is here to focus down on and deeply integrate the fireworks or steam lead off during the Mars transit in Cancer.

Mercury’s Retrograde adds to this entanglement by slowing down, and stalling where smart ideas or quick intellect would usually over ride to alter a situation. Where Mercury would deliver inspired thought or problem solving, this retrograde will add extra pressure to an already pressurize astrological frame work.  Events as they unfold will have the longer-term benefit of the Mercurial trickster, moving over these points for a 3-fold breakdown or chapter developments. But the overall feel of this will be of slow and arduous, for limited immediate resolve, in June & July.

Finally, the 3rd and final act in this triple whammy of faster transitory triggers is the actual Eclipses of the Cancer / Capricorn axis.  Eclipses are formed when the Nodal access points (Rahu and Ketu), intercept the orbits of the Sun, Moon and Earth. Creating Eclipses. Eclipses are times of quickening and are turbo charged Full and New Moon Lunations. Eclipse energy is tricky and it’s not a great time for any form of divination, let alone clarity.  The Sun and Moon are blocked, unseen forces are at play, Eclipse times are times for rest and letting things play out.

July 2019 has 2 Eclipses, a Solar & Lunar Eclipse. These will be occurring at the New Moon in Cancer & Full Moon in Capricorn. The effects of these eclipses can last until the next non eclipsed lunation or until the next eclipse in this axis series. IF you have any planets in Capricorn or Cancer, aspecting these Eclipses, these Planets will feel the effect more strongly in your chart than if you don’t, have any planets in aspect. Generally, Eclipses are just strange times, and general caution should be applied.

Overall, there is ALOT going on over the next 2 months, with much of it feeding into the larger 2020 astrological story. Eclipse wise June and July will hark back to December 2018 / January 2019. The next 2 months will have a more notable strength to it with the Mars transit of Cancer and the Mercury Retrograde that begins to unfold in July.

The overwhelming story of these transits is to be gentle and commit to processing or going with whatever pops up. Repressing it, fighting it, ignoring it or not confronting it will be hugely problematic under the above astrology, and inflammation likely, due to   the Mars in Cancer element. Being active rather than reactive or defensive is a good way of dealing with such conflicting energy. It may feel like it is dragging on, or not developing, but the good news is come August / September, things will be in a much better shape and there will be a much stronger platform to launch from. Just don’t let Mars in Cancer make you, come up a cropper! and be careful of the webs you weave during June & July.

xx

Saturnalia 2017 : Saturn’s return home to Capricorn

Screen Shot 2017-11-03 at 1.56.05 PM

“Work it
Make it
Do it
Make us

Harder
Better
Faster
Stronger”

Daft Punk – Harder Better Faster

This years Solstice on December 22nd 2017 is the beginning of a new energetic reign. It is a changing of the tide, which peaks in 2020 with a tsunami of Capricorn energy, created by Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter in the sign of Capricorn. This is where a 248 year, 27 year and 12 year cycles will intersect creating a redistribution of power at a micro and macro level from 2020.

Saturn returning  home for 3 years is the next step in this journey, 27 years since its last transit of Capricorn, it’s joining Pluto in Capricorn. This ingress of  Saturn into its ruler Capricorn at the Solstice (When the Sun enters Capricorn) is a very rare and auspicious occasion. It last occurred in 1664.  This ingress is ALSO  occurring during the ancient Roman Festival of Saturnalia. It is the first time Saturnalia and Saturn in Capricorn have coincided since December 16 1870.  The 3 way synchronicity of these events show how energetically potent this transit of Saturn in Capricorn is going to be.

Screen Shot 2017-10-28 at 2.21.04 PM

The Ancient Roman Festival of Saturnalia, celebrated annually to usher in the Solstice, was the biggest annual festival of the Roman calendar. Saturnalia, celebrating the god Saturn, was a time of excessive celebration, joy and hedonism. During this celebration, people partied to excess, slaves were given temporary freedom to say and do what they liked, and certain moral restrictions were eased. Saturnalia was a festival about celebration with the aims of bringing fortune and prosperity to crops as the seasons take a dark turn over winter. Once Christianity took hold, Saturnalia was replaced with Christmas.

Saturn, in Astrology is the god of structure, karma, authority, stealth, endurance, commitment, accountability, wisdom and time. Saturn is karmic and consequence. It creates opportunities to solidify and strengthen. Capricorn applies to government, systems, hierarchy, status, public profile, rules / regulations and external structure.  These two energies speak to each other.

Saturn is re-entering Capricorn to cleanse & purge after its last reset/transit  27 years ago. With Capricorn there is always a focus on  fairness and equality due to Capricorn’s moralist under tow, and its focus on accountability.  If this energy is out of balance this energy could turn into corruption and nepotism. This is what this transit seeks to clean up on a micro and macro level. Saturn = Karma, Capricorn = Public Profile.

To give historic examples, in past Saturn in Capricorn cycles; the Berlin Wall was Built (Jan 1959 – Jan 1962) and then torn down in Saturns  next Capricorn  transit (Feb 1988 – Feb 1991). In America’s Chart, these Capricorn cycles have seen financial down turns. A reality check to its usual confident financial spending and shows of excess and abundance. People who faught the law and the law won, were killed or captured also when Saturn got in to Capricorn. Ie: Al Capone & Pablo Escobar.  All these examples feel pertinent as we enter this transit, themes such as Walls, Finances, Justice, all resonate in the current climate.

Pluto has been pre purging Capricorn’s space, clearing the way for Saturn’s entry since 2008. Pluto had an explosive entry into Capricorn via the Global Financial Crisis. Pluto is all about transforming and changing the ways we do things, via deaths of old ways of being. The fact it has been paving the way for Saturn’s entry, makes Saturn’s upcoming transit more interesting with the potential to be more potent than previous transits. Any time Pluto and Saturn meet there is a redistribution of power. With Pluto a lot of muck has been racked around gender, politics, governments and money since 2008. Jupiter moving into Scorpio in October 2017 is amplifying this Plutonic energy. Jupiter in Scorpio also brings in the current themes of Sexual Power and Consequence to this Saturn cycle. Interestingly enough the Harvey Weinstein Affair came out just as Jupiter moved into Scorpio. Coinciedence ? I think not.

If you’re an earth or water sign, it will be an abundant flow of energy that comes naturally. It will feel safe with the feeling of being supported in what you do.   Earth IS Structure, Water NEEDS structure. If you’re a Fire or Air sign, it will flow but it might feel a bit more challenging as Air and Fire don’t like to be grounded or contained. Don’t be intimated, this is something you can handle. Remembering Saturn is making sure Pluto’s restructuring and excavation is structurally sound for you to launch off post 2020.

As Saturn enters Capricorn an earth sign, other major transits of 2018 help support this shift. There is a new distribution of energy into Water and Earth Signs. This is a shift from the past few years which have been more Fire and Air dominated.  Uranus moving into Taurus (Earth), Jupiter in Scorpio (Water) and Neptune in Pisces (Water) will finally have support via Saturn in Capricorn. Calming the waters after the past few years of volatility.

Saturn in Sagittarius over the past 3 years has been a bit of clash of agendas. Sagittarius likes to stretch its legs and get excited about life. Saturn is the realist and operates from a place  of restriction.  When Saturn moves in to Capricorn on December 21st 2017,  Saturn the realist will finally have a sign that respects its authority and need to consolidate and restrict before the next big push. Saturn in Capricorn IS this restrictive process. If there was ever a send off for Saturn from one sign to another, the current Mercury Retrograde conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius is surely it. Re-assessing the past 3 years before the mantra “constraints are liberating” become the new ethos. Mercury goes direct as the Sun & Saturn goes into Capricorn.

Saturn loves to create support systems and you couldn’t ask for a better planet to give support to such expansive and unrestrained energies such as Neptune, Jupiter or Uranus.  Earth and Water come together to make a lasting impact, consolidating the ideas and passion that has been awoken and seeded, with all the Air and Fire that has been dominating the past 2 years. Saturn will be the base note of the next 3 years, the under tone to which everything else will hang from.

Saturn through the signs :

Capricorn/Capricorn Rising 1st House: Earth

Capricorn has the stern facade of Saturn transiting their 1st House. Restructuring is the new cool. “Constraints are liberating” will be your mantra for the world to see. Your ruler  will be dropping all the fake facades in a very visible way as you get Harder, Faster, Better at life in ALL Aspects.  Capricorn’s love to climb and this is the hard work that will end up getting you places. If you feel like you have been doing this for a while, Saturn will support you in leaps and bounds, propelling you forward. Its going to strengthen ALL areas of your life, don’t get to sentimental about anything lost. You have some major climbing to do.

Aquarius/Aquarius Rising 12th House: Air

Aquarian’s feel the heat of Saturn’s grind in their 12th House of their inner world and sanctum. There maybe a need to set up solid private practises, that nurture your spirit and soul. It could be a shift in WHAT you DO to nourish this area of life.  Either way there will a pressure around your inner world. Which shouldn’t actually be too bad. Saturn is the old ruler of Aquarius so it is an energy you are familiar with. Use the pressure of the searching and seeking to find the treasure that you seek – Personal liberation and freedom in your personal realm.

Pisces / Pisces Rising 11th House: Water

Pisces and Pisces rising might feel a falling away of groups and activities they belong to as their hopes and wishes evolve. Saturn is all about re-assessing the terrain you walk on. Do the people I hang out with support this ? Am  I with my tribe ? Questions around this might pop up – working with this energy will allow you to find the people who support your quests and hopes and visions for the future. Pisces don’t really like Saturn’s directness, now that its amplified in Capricorn there may be an adjustment period. Saturn in Capricorn will be receptive to Neptune your Ruler, currently in your sign. So basically, there will be an adjustment period, before Saturn in Capricorn helps with your natural magic.

Aries /Aries Rising 10th House: Fire

Aries will find Saturn’s amplification in the house he rules. The 10th House. The house of Status, Power, Government and Public Profile. Aries will have to comply. They don’t always like to comply, especially when its to other people’s rules. However Saturn calling you to comply and do the work will see a rise in your public kudos and profile. Potentially making you the star of this transit show, with your Capricorn buddies. Especially since Uranus will be leaving your sign after 7 years of shaking your foundations.

Taurus/Taurus Rising 9th House: Earth

Fellow Earth Sign Taurus will see Saturn hit its 9th house of travel and philosophy. There might be some shifts in philosophy once Uranus comes to the party in May 2018. Taurus will LOVE having strong and sure support as it moves into very unfamiliar territory with Uranus beginning an 8 year transit, in Taurus. Travel and time out might be the remedy with such huge shifts in energy in the world of Taurus. Channelling the surest and steady feet of Saturn in Capricorn will guide you and be your leading light over the next few years. When in doubt, remember Winter is coming, what is your normal Winter protocol ?

Gemini  / Gemini Rising 8th House: Air

Gemini will see the need for compliance a toeing the line with other people’s money and any field of money that is not earned i.e. tax, inheritance bank loans etc. Perhaps not the best time to speculate, Gemini can use its wits and gift of communication and networking to sail through any unfamiliar terrain. Just be aware it’s not the energy you can down play or blow off, you will need to comply and commit !!   Deeper connections with people might feel heavy, stuck and grounding at first. Saturn in Capricorn isn’t an energy that really gel with you, but it will teach you to slow down and really look at the details of the situation before you play your cards. This is a very strong lesson for Gemini and their mutable ways. A positive and natural usage for Gemini to maximise this transit, would be to study some esoteric, magical or occultist study. By 2020 you will be the embodiment of The Magician from the Tarot, the card of your ruler – Mercury. That and Gemini loves to learn new tricks.

Cancer /Cancer Rising 7th House: Water

Cancer, Capricorn is your opposite sign, it will see Saturn transiting your house of relationships with others. It will also see Saturn oppose your Sun at some stage over the next 3 years. What this means is your relationships with others is changing and perhaps challenged. It is time to look at things as perhaps more black & white, less grey. Saturn in Capricorn is pretty simple and straightforward and its doesn’t pussy foot around. Where Cancer might have compassion and emotiveness, Capricorn has fairness and accountability. This transit might see you look at a few of your key relationships. Are they helping you as best they should ?  Is it fair ? Is there an uneven balance ? If so, its either in or out. Nothing in between. Saturn taking away only those which don’t actually serve you. This isn’t to unfamiliar to you Cancer. Pluto has been opposing your sign since 2008, Saturn is just another less intense activation of this transformative vibe. You and relationships are actively transforming for the better !

Leo /Leo Rising 6th House: Fire

Leo’s will have a re-structuring of its daily routines, work and health routines during this Saturn in Capricorn transit. Whats in your Alchemy & Transformation tool box?  Less time for glaming, more hard work for better results. Leo’s aren’t opposed to hard work, they perhaps might just find it all a little dull at first, but once you realise the transformative affects this will have on your body and how small changes can have a huge impact, freeing up more time; that’s when the fun really beings. Your basically beginning a full renovation of your daily life and your body as a temple. You might have to bring your famed humour and reputation at the beginning of it all to really get the ball rolling. Shining your light through the dimming of the light, as we enter what feels like the winter of our discontent. Discontent creates change, change keeps things moving and this is what you will need to keep temper the feeling of restriction from Saturn in Capricorn.

Virgo/Virgo Rising 5th House: Earth

Virgo will see an overhaul of its creativity and how it creates. Saturn might make you work harder for it what you want to create.  It might make you wonder if it really is creative and fun. Saturn will make you think of all the hard questions around your creative adventures. Just remember that, constraints are liberating and Saturn only takes from you what you no longer need. Use that knowledge when push comes to shove, to fuel your creative fires. Remember Pluto has been transiting this house since 2008, Saturn is simply making sure Pluto’s renovations are structurally sound. The base note being, is this what you truely Love ? If not, seek it.

Libra / Libra Rising 4th House: Air

Saturn in Capricorn will be the karmic connection between your family, ancestors and root connections. Saturn is time and consequence. Libra is all about balancing the needs others and themselves. Libra is just coming off a year with Jupiter in its sign, you still feel that feeling of abundance and joy. Saturn is exulted in Libra. i.e.: Very strong and happy in Libra as they share the same views on  karma and re-balancing energies in favour of fairness and ethics. Saturn is coming in to restrict anything that doesn’t serve you in the home and ancestors front. Karmic patterns of the past might pop up as something to work through and beyond, for a bright strong future. Remembering Saturn is literally strengthening the changes made from 2008 onwards in order to transform your life for the better. Saturn in Capricorn is here to advance this. It might feel heavy at first, but when you tap into the strength of it all you will shine so bright sweet Libran’s. This is a deep rooted overhaul of your connections to what family is, and where you come from at its deepest level. You might find you finally take control on the home front.

Scorpio/ Scorpio Rising 3rd House: Water

Scorpio’s who now have Jupiter going through there sign are flying high with energy and abundant optimism.  Saturn puts the breaks on your 3rd house of communication. Basically you might feel dragged down by communication this year. A cooling off. Perhaps people aren’t vibing your optimism. Your famed perception and deep analysis might struggle to be received as warmly as you would like ? Basically Saturn in Capricorn will be looking at enhancing HOW your communicate and re-evaluating if this can be done in a more effective way.  Saturn in Capricorn will be a transit that enables you to be heard !

Sagittarius / Sagittarius Rising 2nd House: Fire

Sagittarius will be deconstructing and reconstructing its self in the area of work and income. This will focus on solid, slow work and realism, the antithisis of your abundant fire energy . HOWEVER – Saturn is just leaving your sign. You have just lived 3 years with this energy dominating your sign and your style. You get this ! This transit does to a degree take the pressure off you. However, Saturn is in its sign of its rulership, Saturn is Still strong. Just image the incredible opportunities you can have  over the next 3 years, using the lessons learnt over the PAST 3 years. This time around it is  really developing and strengthening your self-worth and income. 3 years of hard work really could revolutionise who you really are in more than a fiscal amount.

Mars Conjunct Pluto – The Transmutation

Screen Shot 2016-10-19 at 4.01.38 PM.png

There’s no map to human behaviour.

Bjork

This week is Mars Conjunct Pluto in Capricorn – creating the great transmutation. Every 2 years Mars the Warrior meets Pluto the God of the Underworld, to excellerate the evolutionary process. Mars is the accelerant to Pluto’s transformative powers as they join in Capricorn a sign that Mars relishes. Mars is super souped up after spending most of the year in Scorpio and Sagittarius due to an almighty retrograde.

Mars is the old ruler of Scorpio, with Pluto being its newer ruler. These two know each other and this Mars is super hot and turbo charged after being held up, delayed, frustrated yet reflective and self analysing in Scorpio. Its focus was the inner sub conscious, psychology, depth, the shadow and other people’s money, debt and loans. It then got fired up with Sagittarian things such as philosophy, travel, adventure and culture. Now it is in Capricorn where it’s thinking logistics, building, status and power, money and government. All these things blending together in this newly formed flame. When it meets Pluto this week it is firing up things that can transform you. Resurrect you.

Mars conjunct Pluto in Capricorn is an energetic release of energy that is really propelling you to take the bull by the horns and come out of the chrysalis. Things may happen suddenly and abruptly or they could be you deciding to step it up and speed up any transformation or change that you have been toying with for a while. The catch is that it might be in your sub conscious and not fully conscious. Because it is Pluto there will be fear attached. But Mars is here to burn off the fear and pull you out from a new birthing. This doesn’t have to be negative, it all depends where you are at.

Mars during its retrograde made a strong conjunction to Saturn, Capricorn’s is ruler in the past 3 months, making this a 3 way triple hit of rulers and signs blending and working with each other over a very small time period and it’s game on.

This Mars and Pluto conjunction will affect on a micro and macro level, with things also playing out on the world stage.  Jupiter coming in from Libra will also give a sub flow of an exaggerating need of balance of the individual and the group as well as justice.

The next few weeks will be interesting and a really good time to harness this energy at play and really work with it rather than against the process. How this unfolds for you as an individual and where it may play out will depend on your chart but this is a wonderful landscape for new beginnings and allowing the shadow side to be observed and welcomed to the whole. Bringing the shadow out of its shadow.

Peace xx

Saturn in Scorpio – Saturn’s last blast back to the Underworld

Screen shot 2015-07-14 at 2.21.18 PM“Saturn comes back around to show you everything, Let’s you choose what you will not see and then Drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again, Spits you out like a child, light and innocent.” Tool – The Grudge

Saturn’s Retrograde back into Scorpio on June 15th until September 2015 is the final stage of a transit that’s left most people emotionally exhausted and rinsed to put it mildly.

Saturn going through the dark depths of Scorpio over the past 2.5 years has seen many break up, downs and through’s in the areas of sex, psychology, external finances and esoteric beliefs.

All  the internal gunk we have been trying to avoid finally came spewing forward, the denials were no longer enough to contain it. We have realised through this transit the only way to get rid of this emotional gunk is to go through it and experience it, rather than skirt around it acknowledging it whilst waving thanks “I see you … but just stay over there!”

Saturn is a planet that gives structure by destroying all things that are not hurricane strength to allow deeper foundations to build on. Since this planet has been in Scorpio all things Scorpionic have firmly been in the firing line and Scorpionic things are not necessarily easy or straight-forward.

Saturn entered Scorpio on October 5th 2012 until 23rd December 2014.  Think back, what has changed, evolved or moved since then. Anything that has been evolving, changing or completely demolished since then, is what this final blast of Saturn is Scorpio is trying to finally integrate and finalise over the coming months, before pushes off for another 28 – 30 years.

People who have their Sun or personal planets (Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars)  in Scorpio have been feeling the heat of the this Saturn transit over these planets the most. They would have felt a small reprieve when Saturn went in Sagittarius Dec 23rd 2014 until June this year, however since coming back for its final run, Saturn is  considered more potent. The best way to look at transits, is to look at how things unfolded in previous Saturn in Scorpio transits (Globally and Personally). It’s a good indicator about what Saturn in Scorpio is about.

The last time we had Saturn in Scorpio (November 29 1982 – November 1985), the AID’s crisis was in full swing and Safe Sex became the new catch phrase, people’s lives literally became dependant on it. Peoples attitudes towards Sex had to be transformed almost over night. During this current transit we have seen plenty of celebrity sex scandals, with a outing of many predatory figures being convicted of sex crimes. In the 1980s we also saw Capitalism in full swing, mass privatization, suddenly Governments around the world were selling state assets to private buyers changing how we view what is private and what is public Goods and Services. Currently we are still dealing with  fall out of the effects of the Global Financial Crisis, the current Greek financial crisis the last blast or culmination of the continued woes for the Euro as well as helping re-evaluating how a United Europe does business. Other people are certainly dictating other people (Greece’s) money. What is decided on for Greece will certainly dictate other similar scenarios in Europe for the near future.

This last phase of Saturn in Scorpio isn’t going to be easy but it will most certainly finish off what it started back in October 2012 and it will hopefully made you re-evaluate how you psychologically do things for the better over the next 28 – 30 years.  When Saturn moves into Sagittarius on the 18th of  September, there will be a collective sigh of relief but the changes that Saturn brought should allow you to have greater depth, conviction and make you psychologically stronger creating a solid platform to move forward from, with the large sigh of relief and mutterings of “thank god that’s over ! Seriously !”
