The Solstice annually marks the beginnings of the Sun’s movements through The Cancer & Capricorn Axis points. Cancer and Capricorn are signs that mark the greatest imbalance of Light and Dark, no matter what sphere you live in. Reflecting the extremes of the light and dark in the physical world as we know it.

Since the ingress of the Moon’s Nodes, the Eclipse points, or Rahu & Ketu into the signs of Cancer and Capricorn (Nov 2018 – July 2020) this axis point has become a more sensitive and accelerated area for growth, and modification.  These are points of change and create a deep push pull effect, working through deep and sensitive plot points of one’s life.  The Eclipses of 2019 take place in Capricorn and Cancer. Meaning if you have any planets in Cardinal Signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn – you will be more directly affected. Planets in Capricorn or Cancer are directly being moulded, modified or purified. Planets in Libra and Aries are being affected by reverbs of these Cancer and Capricorn symphonic clashes.

Capricorn currently has a longer, slower, deeper and at times invisible story unfolding, with the 15-year transit of Pluto through it sign, creating situations and experience of deep modification to the areas of life, that Capricorn planets or points the sign rules over, in one’s birth chart. Pluto transit’s in duration are the longest and slowest of the Zodiac, as well as being the deepest and at times confronting and arduous. Any planets or points that Pluto hit, are hijacked for plutonic redress.

Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn is halfway through its transit of its home sign, making Saturn especially dignified and strong in its current restructuring and Strength testing, of   all that sits in the Capricorn realm.  Since December 2017 this has been working in direct connection with Pluto in Capricorn, by first sign and then aspect. It is creeping closer to conjunction in January 2020. Saturn is challenging the strength of ideas and concepts that are being build or trying to come to fruition, through day by day labouring.  Pluto and Saturn are industrial purging and structural change agents. Since November 2018, Pluto and Saturn have had Ketu or the South Node join the industrial party.  Pluto and Saturn are currently working towards a conjunction in 2020, in Capricorn. The last time this occurred was 1982, at the height of the Cold War, and the rise of Neo Liberalism in Western Government Policy. Saturn Pluto is seen as drastic times of economic change and conflict. More on this cycle in another post.

Ketu or the dragon’s tail is a purging and detoxifying energy. Ketu is pushing for release of things that are not essential or spiritually aligned to the planets or areas of life, its transiting. Ketu is directly affecting the Capricorn, area and placements.  Ketu is joining and working with Pluto / Saturn and is creating an intensified experience. The Pluto Saturn and Ketu transits are catalyst of change pushing you to purify the grounds and environments your seeking to master or conquer.

Capricorn experiences are anything that is slow, and an area of life which reaches maturation over a long period of time. Capricorn energy is about things that you believe are solid, and sure footed.  This solidity allows for feeding of, and creation of gains and overall reward after sacrifice and hard work. But what Pluto and Ketu are doing is adding 2 almost invisible layers of disruption, testing, to see if these structures are truly aligned with you and your forward momentum to the top of the proverbial mountain. Why climb to the top of a dormant or landslide prone mountain? The current planetary transits are testing this sure footedness. This energy will begin to separate by late October, once Ketu clears from its separation from Saturn.

In the Cancer corner, Cancer the only Cardinal Sign in Water.  It is emotional source energy, protected and hidden way by a Crab shell, a tough front, water is hidden away behind strong barriers.  Cancer is the opposite sign of Capricorn. Cancer energy is strong, intuitive, protective, nurturing and sweetness fortified by a protective armour. Once it allows you into the sphere, this is when Cancer energy can really be worked with and enjoyed. Cancer like Capricorn is hard yin.  Where you have Cancer in your chart, is where, what you most treasure is tucked away, protected from the storms, protecting the source of emotion and intuition.  Cancer energy is like a precious spring well, an individual keep hidden away, until trust has been gained, to share the source.

Cancer, has been experiencing Saturn and Pluto from its opposite sign, challenging this protective method. Meaning any planets or areas of life that are in the sign of Cancer have had this constant stress, purification, change, strength testing around its Source energy, for a few years now. The 2020 conjunction will directly affect Cancer planets and points. Putting real pressure on keeping its Water Wells, clean and protected, in the face of constant challenge from its opposing sign Capricorn.

Rahu or The North Node has been transiting Cancer since November 2018. Rahu, like Ketu, they are direct opposites, they operate together, by moving together as constant opposites. Rahu brings a new dynamic to the Cancer Sphere. Where Ketu detox’s or purges, Rahu devours and is hungry, and constantly consumes, like hungry ghost energy.  Eclipses were thought to be an animal devouring the Sun, Rahu energy, is the devourer of the Sun and Moon. Rahu has an endless hunger and consumption, without proper ability to digest, or nurture being the bi-product of this endless consumption. Rahu can push you into areas or can provide opportunities to change and evolve, however, Ketu must also be brought into the equation. As they balance each other. Like a good food diet – the Nodes are constantly balancing consumption and processing. Managing their push pull is complex is part of the astrological process of June and July. Rahu and Ketu don’t necessary do this on their own naturally. It is through awareness, that mastery of the Rahu and Ketu can begin.

This June and July, we see Mars and Mercury transit Cancer, acting as triggers and accelerating by applying fast acting pressure to these longer-term transits highlighted above. This is creating the volatile environment of June and July. Mars & Mercury will be putting lots of pressure on to the deeper and darkest corners. June and July have great potential to create tension, explosions or confrontation. There will be challenges and questions about the roads we are currently on, especially around, Status, Family, Ancestry, Rooting, Home and Building for the Future.

Mars is in its Fall in Cancer, Mars and Cancer are not comfortable bed fellows. Mars is fast, aggressive, reactionary, Yang Fire. Cancer is slower, more cautious, protective, Yin Water. Mars entered Cancer on May 17th, but by June 11th we see Mars begin to activate Saturn, Pluto and The Nodes, by opposition and conjunction. Mars is setting the frame work for a very active Solstice period.  Mars is very much the aggressor of this situation. Being in its sign of its fall, it doesn’t operate as it should. Mars in Cancer can see explosions of pent up and emotional anger or aggression. Rahu and Ketu can add, a deeper level of repressed emotional trauma or ancestral trauma. Saturn and Pluto – also speak to this concept of clearing out deep emotional trauma leading the way to better foundations or reconciliation.

Mars transiting Cancer,sees a match stick being raised and set. Not allowing Mars to burn off the deadwood, in a wet environment, is where trouble could be caused. This contrary situation (Water and Fire) means Mars WILL find other outlets to do its job, if the steam isn’t let off. The outcome might become more explosive than needed or required. So, if things do heat up, don’t smother them, the aim is to control the fire (like a planned burn off) rather than avoiding the fire, because you wanted to hold on to the dead wood. Mars is tricky this month, work with it.

Mercury will come to play as it enters Cancer on June 5th, Mercury is naturally fast and is a problem solver whose speed and rational brings intellectual smarts to the table. However, Mercury begins to slow down in June and turns Retrograde July 8th, beginning its retrograde cycle in Leo/Cancer.  This Mercury retrograde, timed perfectly after Mars’ transit of Cancer, activating all the sticky points of the chart, really speaks to the 3-fold effect which is building around this time frame and the purging and re-visioning of our Capricorn / Cancer axis of our lives. Mercury Retrograde is here to focus down on and deeply integrate the fireworks or steam lead off during the Mars transit in Cancer.

Mercury’s Retrograde adds to this entanglement by slowing down, and stalling where smart ideas or quick intellect would usually over ride to alter a situation. Where Mercury would deliver inspired thought or problem solving, this retrograde will add extra pressure to an already pressurize astrological frame work.  Events as they unfold will have the longer-term benefit of the Mercurial trickster, moving over these points for a 3-fold breakdown or chapter developments. But the overall feel of this will be of slow and arduous, for limited immediate resolve, in June & July.

Finally, the 3rd and final act in this triple whammy of faster transitory triggers is the actual Eclipses of the Cancer / Capricorn axis.  Eclipses are formed when the Nodal access points (Rahu and Ketu), intercept the orbits of the Sun, Moon and Earth. Creating Eclipses. Eclipses are times of quickening and are turbo charged Full and New Moon Lunations. Eclipse energy is tricky and it’s not a great time for any form of divination, let alone clarity.  The Sun and Moon are blocked, unseen forces are at play, Eclipse times are times for rest and letting things play out.

July 2019 has 2 Eclipses, a Solar & Lunar Eclipse. These will be occurring at the New Moon in Cancer & Full Moon in Capricorn. The effects of these eclipses can last until the next non eclipsed lunation or until the next eclipse in this axis series. IF you have any planets in Capricorn or Cancer, aspecting these Eclipses, these Planets will feel the effect more strongly in your chart than if you don’t, have any planets in aspect. Generally, Eclipses are just strange times, and general caution should be applied.

Overall, there is ALOT going on over the next 2 months, with much of it feeding into the larger 2020 astrological story. Eclipse wise June and July will hark back to December 2018 / January 2019. The next 2 months will have a more notable strength to it with the Mars transit of Cancer and the Mercury Retrograde that begins to unfold in July.

The overwhelming story of these transits is to be gentle and commit to processing or going with whatever pops up. Repressing it, fighting it, ignoring it or not confronting it will be hugely problematic under the above astrology, and inflammation likely, due to   the Mars in Cancer element. Being active rather than reactive or defensive is a good way of dealing with such conflicting energy. It may feel like it is dragging on, or not developing, but the good news is come August / September, things will be in a much better shape and there will be a much stronger platform to launch from. Just don’t let Mars in Cancer make you, come up a cropper! and be careful of the webs you weave during June & July.

Uranus in Taurus: Unexpected Awakenings

Uranus in Taurus :  6 March 2019 – 26 April 2026

Within 24 hours of The New Moon & Mercury Retrograde, in Pisces, Uranus makes its  ingress into Taurus on March 6, augmenting the final outer planet shift, establishing the dominant earth vibe which is traveling with us till the mid 2020’s.

Uranus, the great awakener moving into the fixed earth of Taurus, is a volatile meeting of two energies from opposite sides of the spectrum. Uranus, a mover and shaker whose main objective is to destabilise, in order to innovate. Taurus is a slow mover and lacks a desire to change. During this transit, Taurus will be required to move from its sometimes, entrenched space into something more flexible and innovative. Taurus is the most fixed of the 3 fixed signs, is about to be awoken from its slumber.

Like all outer planet transits, Uranus in Taurus will be affecting people on both a macro and micro scale, with the changes that develop over the next 7 years, revolutionising both our lives and society. The last time Uranus was in Taurus we saw, The Great Depression (changes in money value and food scarcity), The rise and outbreak of World War 2 (fixed values and ideas, creating destabilizing politics and world conflict, created by extremist values), Women joining the work force due to the War ( revolutionizing the work environment forever) and the changing of food and food staples (due to war and technological advances), which began the mechanize food production. i.e. the chocolate cookie being invented during the last transit.

The past reflects, Uranus in Taurus being a cycle of large financial change in domestic and globally money trades. The current over valuation of the housing market and luxury items are an obvious place to look to, for this upcoming cycle. The evidence of this financial correction has been speculated, with the effects already being felt as we move towards the actual ingress. This is just the beginning of the corrections of housing values.  Climate change (Taurus being an earth sign) also will have its hand in influencing this correction. Erosion for coastal property, flooding and fires, with the problem of what happens when your property becomes uninsurable against natural disaster. How does that affect most people’s greatest asset.

On the eve of the ingress we are currently experiencing Brexit, overspendature on a personal and government levels in many western economies, an over dependance on single economies ie: China, Trade Wars and a pretty damning royal commission into the Banking Industry in Australia. We are tittering on the brink, with Uranus in Taurus being part of the catalysis of change.

We are already seeing signs pin pointing to the revolutionizing of money and how we use it. Governments and Corporations are focused on cashless societies, where money is physically no longer carried, but simply numbers on a phone or screen. Never in human history have we lived without a physical money source for barter and exchange. Large cash deposits/withdraws are being scrutinized more, clamping down on cash business trade. The antithesis of this is also being concurrently explored. Bit Coin and other crypto currencies, being created and developed expanding the tools and trade, creating a new value system which allows autonomy from government and banks. These are all reflective of our changing relationship with money in the most physical sense.  How we earn money through work is also rapidly changing. With the concept of having a job for life, now just a memory of a bygone era.

Beauty and Value, attributes of the Venus Rulership of Taurus, are two obvious areas to explore for Uranian revolutions.  The unprecedented rise in selfie culture is a Uranus in Aries manifestation of the “Me” of Aries. The over indulgence and over stimulation of posting vacuous selfie images, is seeing more people seeking to switch off from social media accounts, or at least being more discerning, over what they view and engage with. The overuse of app filters is now seeing the introduction of body dysmorphia created by filters on social media apps. Creating a psychological and physical impact on our body and beauty standards. This increase in demand is fuelling the cosmetic surgery industry to service new demands for people wanting to look more like their Instagram filter self.

The tide is shifting with this social media impact as we enter Uranus in Taurus, and we are begin to see rebellion. The damage such cosmetic products have on our bodies, will be revealed more during this transit, as these treatments are historically untested and our bodies. After all, smoking was a healthy and safe with no impact on the body, once upon a time, wasn’t it ! As we move into this new cycle young people are switching off social media, for a natural and less ‘targeted’ interaction with people and information, as well as having a closer connection to their environments. This is phase is just beginning. It will be interesting to see where our Instagram influencers are at in 7 years’ time, and what the ACTUAL impact of Botox and plastic surgery has on young bodies.

Food, is also a Taurus theme already turning its hand to innovation and pioneering change. Veganism, and alternative food sourcing are increasing due to over population, climate change and food ethics (values), these influences, along side our more sedentary lifestyle is making us “have” to change the way we eat. Mother earth can no longer provide for us, as our populations spirals out of control.

As we enter Uranus in Taurus, we are seeing new directions for food production and consumption. Lab grown or plant-based meats are being researched and developed. With the look and taste of meat, but with-out the need to factory farm or kill animals. Imagine if Uranus in Taurus stopped us killing bulls for food !

3D printing has been suggested as a potential area of food development, with short falls of food in situations of famine or crop failures. Veganism and Vegetarianism has never been so popular, with expectations that demand will keep rising for it. I would expect large changes in the way we farm and source our food over the next 7 years.  We are just entering this cycle, it will be interesting to look back in 7 year’s time to see how much our food source have changed and developed. Food is well on its way to being revolutionized, with some real progress expected as we enter this new Uranian cycle.

Astrology is the study of cycles, and with Uranus in Taurus we are witnessing a birthing of a new era around, food, money, wealth and beauty. History has shown us how potent,   the Uranus in Taurus transits can be. To get a head start, the best strategy is to be open for change, in the above and below areas of life. Uranus in Taurus – Through the Signs

There is much room for upgrading over the next 7 years, try to make the most of it by being open to change when the opportunity presents itself. Any resistance can lead to lessons or upgrades occurring in a harder fashion. Every facet of your being is evolving, by 2026 – the world will be presented with a more streamlined and progressive you.

You will be re-evaluating your worth from a subconscious level, with most of these upgrades occurring from a more hidden or secret realms of your life. Issues to do with worth, investment and value will be changing at the inner most place of your psyche. This is setting you up for when Uranus shifts into Gemini in 2026. Setting you up for quite the entrance. Anything that eats into your psychological space, will be freed and liberated over the next 7 years. The catch is, these are generally things you don’t want to look at.

How you engage with them, their importance in your life and the shift of who these people are and how they value you, is where this electric energy will be directed. There could be a shift in your placement within your groupings and associations. With the end game being that you are getting the values and validation you deserve, you also learn the value of who deserve it. No more nurturing the wrong apple trees. Remember other people or groups don’t set your worth, you do.

The paths or how you get to the topic of learning might be erratic and surprising, but there is greater learnings and lessons around the synchronicity or spontaneous way that opportunities to explore such subjects will be discovered and explored. A little more adaptable than your earth cousin Taurus, you might not naturally be inclined to be so spontaneous, but your adaptability and fluid nature means you will naturally find your feet in this new “earth” terrain. Be mindful of this as you step into this new earth era. Ideas  to gain such money, might not be as straight forward to action as initially thought, or there might be more unexpected requirements. Old access to external money sources may disappear. This is all tied to the bigger cycles that are occurring in the world around you. Don’t fret, this is about improving and eventual freedom and liberation from old debts. But from the introduction of this transit, other peoples money should be seen as being in flux, this includes your partners money. Debt reduction is essential.

Do they value you ? What role do you play in all this upheavel ? There is a change in the exchange of your relationships, which might feel erratic or surprisingly different. Do this  before events conspire forcing you to see; why doing what you love and valuing creativity is the ONLY way, to truly live an inspired life. Capricorn’s don’t have to be all business, and its a fallacy that they are all workaholics. Uranus in Taurus has come along to prove it, bringing it to the forefront.

Uranus shaking earth, can create some deep tremors. Be sure of the ground you physically live on, don’t over extend to get your dream home. Remembering to live within your means IS a liberating experience. Reducing as much household debt is a must. Your never shy to think outside the box, remember, the energy you are working with is more conservative, and volatile. Valuing your family and their input into where they have gotten you to thus far, is also a side effect of this transit, creating greater freedom, to step forwards on your own journey.

Uranus in Taurus may require you to have more grounded and separating techniques to operate from. There maybe more of a need to assess and value the separation of feelings, thought and words. Looking at it in another way, anyone who was wishing to creatively communicate for work or pleasure, might find the internet, self publishing and new avenues of communication via technology an area of freedom and liberation. Allowing Pisces to create new visions to share with the world.  Either way your communication is what is being evolved and innovated over the next 7 years. Relationships with siblings is also changing.

Valuing your time, money, income will see you re-assess and look to new methods for income. Self Value comes into the mix, after having 8 years of Uranus in your sign, you know what its like to have your identity and perceptions of how you want to be in this world shift and change unexpectedly. Remember how you value yourself and how you generate your income, are linked.  Over the next 7 years, circumstances may feel like they are conspiring,  but they are allowing you to get onto another track, the things that might throw you, is that things that you always expected to be a given are no longer so. Mercury Retrograde in Pisces: Tales from The Omniverse

Mercury entered Pisces on February 11th, for its annual tour through the 12 sign of the zodiac.  Usually its a 14 day jaunt through a sign, but for 2019  Mercury will be settling into Pisces for just over 2 months,  thanks to its upcoming retrograde.

2019 will see the Mercury retrograde’s occurring predominantly in Water signs, with Pisces being the first expression of these transits. The Water element gives the Mercury retrogrades of 2019 a more emotive and internal quality, which differs from recent years.

Mercury being in its fall in Pisces means clarity and logic are 2 things which fall to the wayside, when Mercury transit’s the last sign of the zodiac.  Mercury desires clarity, it loves operating from a space of understanding and rational to help negotiate day-to-day life. Instead Mercury will be navigating a blurred and muddy territory, for a more creative or lucid atmosphere. This is not Mercury’s natural inclination, or something it enjoys doing, but when in Pisces, its made to work within the Piscean realm.

Pisces is a sign of expansive knowing and unknowing.  Of which the space for change, mutation and contradiction is strong, and at times overwhelming. Pisces is intuitive and unstructured, in the way Mercury likes structure, rational and pace.  Pisces is all about communicating in non-traditional ways; dream interpretation, poetry, music or visceral awareness. These two have an Oil and Water effect when they meet. Our job is to allow them to express, rather than try to repress, their attempts for refining the process by throwing away the normal protocols.

Neptune being involved adds to the destabilizing effects on Mercury.  Neptune blurs the edges more, operating from the subconscious, or unseen realms.   Mercury will cross and station direct on Neptune (19 Feb,  25th March – 3 April). Meaning mercury will be subject to strange bendings as he chases Alice down the Rabbit hole creating an almost parallel universe of messages, inspirations and whispers due to this Neptunian influence. Helping to create a dynamic and memorable Mercury Retrograde.

Jupiter squares Mercury during this retrograde phase. (23 Feb, 16 March, 12 April as Jupiter stations retrograde). Neptune helps create the vision, Jupiter then steps in to expand it. Jupiter is giving the big picture view to an idea or vision that was seeded, via the Neptune conjunctions. One planet is inspiring the mercurial, then the other planet is expanding the mercurial with faith, optimism and a big picture approach. This is very dynamic and mysterious transit, but what can be procured from it, is limitless, especially considering that Jupiter also rules Pisces.

Understand that messages don’t have to come through in a clear and logical way. Messages that are hidden, half developed or fractals of ideas  ARE ready to be formed and developed, ARE more powerful and liberating. This is what this transit is really speaking too. It’s a great time for exploration and (un)conscious raising. Why ? Pisces / Pisces Rising – Finally people might begin to understand some of the wonderful traits you weave through out being, and into life, which you don’t always reveal. Aries / Aries Rising – Your dreams and subconscious will be activated, clearing out all the debris post Uranus in Aries. Leo / Leo Rising – Do not go into any debt, shared money or investments at this time, you don’t have the full facts or picture. The devil is in the details and this month, all details are skewed and changeable. Reading about UFO’s or any other unexplained paranormal or esoteric (i.e.: Hidden) facts or situations are far more fruitful than business at this time. Just enjoy the carpet ride and do big business invests once we are into April.

Virgo / Virgo Rising – Relations both Personal and Professional are unclear and all over the shop as your ruler is operating completely out of its bounds.  It is frustrating, but its great for any creative hobbies or connections. Scorpio / Scorpio Rising – Scorpio is perhaps in the best position this retrograde, occurring in your house of creativity, it is a great opportunity for any creative hobby or venture. Conceptual and doing phase, not ideal for a launching phase. The only catch for you, don’t get swept away with any knight in shinning armour activity. Chances are, they aren’t what they first appear, and looks are very deceiving this retrograde.

Sagittarius / Sagittarius Rising – Your home, family and ancestry is where you will have the opportunity to see and let go of any skeletons in the closet. This retrograde might see some surface, ready to be released. Any “Great” real estate deals or offers might be too good to be true. Wait and follow-up in April, when its easier to analyse the details rather than getting caught up in the big picture dreams.

Capricorn / Capricorn Rising – Communications might be a bit to scattered for your liking, take it all with a grain of salt and put any precious communication or thought into writing with creative flare and vision. Others might drive you mad with the chopping and changing of their word, but you have the power to channel into a creative writing or using internet based publishing for great results. 9 November 2018 – 3 December 2019 – Jupiter in Sagittarius.

On the 9th of November 2018, Jupiter King of the Gods returns to his home sign of Sagittarius (The Archer), for the first time in 12 years. Jupiter cycles are yearly cycles with a reputation of creating lucky opportunities in the areas of life, that this planet transits in your birth chart.

Jupiter returning home to Sagittarius in 2018, will be the break in the astrological weather we have been working so hard to reach, after universally speaking,  a very trying year. Think back to 12 years ago, or 24 years ago to see what happened then, for hints of what could pop up this time around  (2006 / 2007 or 1995 / 1996). This is a cycle of optimism and expansion, but even more so, when Jupiter returns home to the sign of its rulership.  Jupiter in Sagittarius ! What can go wrong?  I mean we are talking the king of the gods here.

So what changes ? Buoyancy, Optimism, Faith, Movement, Travel, Luck, Creativity, Passion and a Willingness to Learn and Understand;  suddenly gets bolstered in the Astrological frame-work. 2018’s Yin year has been a VERY internal and different year in comparison to the 2 previous Yang (expansion) years.

2018 has seen a plethora of challenging retrograde’s.  Mercury Retrograding in Fire signs who are proficient in accelerating mis-understandings has also creating some pretty fiery reactions / communications in return. Mars was given a bolster by its transit in Capricorn the sign that its strongest in aside from its ruler – Aries.  Mars then retrograded in Aquarius, for the first time since 1970, before turning direct on the exact point of its strength 28 degrees of Capricorn. Literally the worst possible time for the Liberals to axe Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull (results from that are due in 2019). Mars Retrograde, left most of the rest of us floundering, all this work for no progress or movement forward, or strange left field obstacles coming from nowhere to challenge or block your energy and power.  Once Mars went direct – Venus decided to go Retrograde in Scorpio, which is basically all about digging through all the sludge and diving deep into the sewers to unblock the blockages, blockages we  really didn’t want to venture down into. Jupiter, our dear friend Jupiter is also in Scorpio amplifying this Venus retrograde by being in Scorpio. And yes here we are…

Jupiter moving in to Sagittarius will be the 3rd planet to be in its sign it Rules, This makes for some powerful and potentially corrective Astrology. Neptune is in Pisces for the first time in 164 years is half way through its transit.  Saturn in Capricorn for the first time in 28 years, is in its first quarter of its transit,  Now Jupiter is entering Sagittarius for the first time in 12 years, to lift the spirits with a healthy dose of positivity and buoyancy. These are all external / macro / social or societal planets, they are heavy hitters. They take YEARS to move around the birth-chart. They offer big shifts in psychic, situation and circumstances. These planets can alter paths by creating opportunities for change. Pluto the head transformer, is not in its rulership in Capricorn but it is pretty much near exultation in Capricorn, so can be also linked by association. Pluto in Capricorn & Jupiter in Scorpio have been very good transits to help expose the poison.

So what happens when Jupiter hits Sagittarius ? Optimism, Speculation, Faith, Fun, Exuberance, Passion and Enthusiasm, Exapansion. All great key words here, but the key to being successful in a time of Jupiter in Sagittarius, is to be MEASURED. Sometimes this transit can lead to blind optimism, blind faith or an over exertion of enthusiasm ESPECIALLY after difficult or more challenging times. Jupiter loves to celebrate and party and so does the sign of Sagittarius, but the very important measure for the next year is to be MEASURED. Would your bigger decisions hold up in a time of austerity ? Money is very important to watch with Jupiter in Sagittarius, as there is a tendency to be overly jovial and over extend with it, it might come easily, but it is just as likely to go easy as well.  Waistlines another thing that are physical manifestations of a Jupiter in Sagittarius cycle, due to its tendency to lead to living life-like an Emperor, 365 day a year.

Jupiter going into Sagittarius IS  a wonderful time to expand Travel, Study, Be Social, Interact and get involved in pursuits that interest you !  Learning, Education, Traveling, Positive Mindset, Connecting with Friends and Family as well an increased level of Faith with regards to any of the above are positive manifestations of this Jupiter Cycle.  It’s a blessed year of opportunity and positive gains as long as Recklessness doesn’t come into the equation, or overly zealous dogma, as Jupiter is just as likey to expand this along with  other manifestations.

Finally its time to celebrate the gains we have made and processed in 2018 ! At the time of this shift, we will also see the Nodes of the Moon move from Leo / Aquarius into Cancer / Capricorn for 18 months. This sees a move in the eclipse cycles and moves the focus of the nodes aka destiny points. Cancer (Home, Mother, Nurture, Ancestors, Family) see the North Node (a pushing forward, a consuming of things that nourish or nurture these themes) while the South Node ( the letting go of and releasing) of theme to do with Status, Power, Position and Acclaim. This Nodal shift also sees more pressure put on this axis which already has Saturn and Pluto transforming and reconstructing Capricorn themes of Power, Status and Government.  Jupiter in Sagittarius really is a last gasp of a chance of fresh Philosphy,  fresh Passion and Creativity before it moves in Capricorn late 2019, leading us into the very potent time of 2020.

If there is a time to party and celebrate, Jupiter in Sagittarius is it. And Hey ! It’s just in time for Summer in the Southern Hemisphere ! It might feel a bit slow to begin with as Mercury goes retrograde in Sagittarius for the first 3 weeks, but come December – its time to free yourself from the lessons of 2018, and burn off some steam by becoming passionate and involving yourself in life and all its sweet offerings !  Chances are there will be a nice little surprise along the way to sweeten the ride. Mars Retrograde in Aquarius – The Revolution will not be Televised

27th of June 2018, Mars the planet of power, drive, assertion and strength will be going Retrograde in Aquarius the sign which focuses on the collective group (Society and Collectives), innovation and ingenuity.  The force will be strong with this one, as Mars retrogrades least in Aquarius. The rarity of this retrograde reflecting its potency.

The last time Mars went retrograde in Aquarius was 1971, the time before that 1939. Mars Retrogrades LEAST in Aquarius and if your under the age of 45, you have never experienced this energetic shape – shifting before. This is a new energy to help you innovate and create new tools to operate with. New methods that can streamline and accelerate your progress around Anger, Rage and Frustration being some obvious themes. Aquarius provides the ability to investigate how to do it in cool detachment is the first gift of this transit.

Currently Mars is well and truly in the shadow of this retrograde, meaning it is already slowing  down to begin its retrograde phase, 15 days out. It will shift only a degree before it turns retrograde, in 15 days. Meaning for a fast, quick pace action packed planet like Mars, you maybe feeling the beginnings of its frustration in the slow down and/or sensing areas for realignment and changes.

Mars will retrograde at 9 degrees of Aquarius, back to 28 degrees of Capricorn, the exact degree of Mars’ exultation (its most powerful degree). Mars will station direct at this degree, but won’t move out of its Retrograde shadow until October 11th; When Venus begins her Retrograde.  This means Mars will be in Aquarius from Mid May until Mid October, which is a long time for Mars to be pulsing its rays in the Aquarius area of your Chart. By the time this Retrograde cycle has ended Mars will have been in Saturn based Signs for 7 months. That is a lot of activity and energy to be thrown at saturnine signs who feed off hard work with no shortcuts.

Another auspicious signifier that this retrograde will be unusually strong, is the fact that Mars first entered Aquarius within hours of Uranus (Aquarius’s Modern Ruler) going into Taurus. Aquarius and Taurus are signs that square each other, thus these energies will directly connect during this retrograde phase. Uranus in Taurus is a once every 84 year cycle, Mars’ retrograded last in Aquarius 46 years ago.

Uranus and Mars are fast, reactive, innovative and exciting energies. Mars being retrograde for these contacts slows this fast pace down, to a stand still at some points.  Dis-satisfaction from surprising areas might be what gets the ball rolling, as this unusual slowdown frustrates, and triggers !

Pushing forward and being the aggressor is never recommended at this time, but listening the subtle shifts and changes are. It’s a time for revision, reassessment and basic implementation, not running full steam ahead casting fury and aggression to get what you want. Burning energy to get things going, works against what this transit is offering. Its more gentle than that, and demonstrates that sometimes you need more than brute force to get things up and going.

There is a spiritual letting go aspect to this Mars Retrograde which is unusual. (This Mars Retrograde is really delivering in the Unusual stakes, which is how Aquarius energy rolls).  Mars when in Aquarius, conjoin’s the South Node (Ketu), 3 times. The South Node, depending on your take on the Nodes, is either your past lives, or the tail end of the dragon which in legend has been split in two, creating The North Node (Rahu) and the South Node (Ketu).

Ketu gets rid of things you don’t need, to live a less materialist or all-consuming life which is connected to nothing, (Ego). Mars when retrograde conjoin’s this South Node (Letting go, spiritualizing), which is urging a very deep detox, or cleaning around long-held beliefs, deeply held systems and understandings, which was are almost soul defining for you. Mars is blasting lots of heat and energy urging you to let go !  Setting up new frame works, and dropping old bullshit which might have anger / rage / resentment as a theme, before really pushing forward post October/November.

This Mars contact to the Nodes is about looking to see how you can balance the desire of moving forward with the new; in an authentic and balanced way, that is Spiritually authentic and true to yourself, whist moving into new ground for your own personal evolution.  With theses Nodes being on the Leo / Aquarius Axis, individuation and the collective are themes that will run through this Mars Retrograde, when it conjoin’s the Nodes. Are you doing things for yourself or for others ?, should you be taking more control over what your personal passions are over what society says you should be doing ? Have you become an egoist nightmare ? and do you need to spend more time jamming with others ?, perhaps taking other people into account ?, Are you hiding behind a mask or other people’s drama from your own truth ? Do you feel you have to play a role to be significant or important in life ? Do you feel like the outsider ? How can you bring yourself in ? Some Astrologers have observed the Deaths of both Kate Spade & Anthony Bourdain, occurred on week of this first Mars / South Node conjunction, which connected to personal aspects of their charts, showing how heavy this combo can truly be.

Of course, when Astrology is really conspiring against you, it happens in 3’s or more. Naturally the Aquarius Full Moon Eclipse of 27/28th of July, will occur conjunct this Retrograde Mars. I mean why would such a rare event not co-inside with an Eclipse ! Eclipses are accelerations, they basically push the story along ! Eclipses are strange times. They are 2 week intervals every 6 months where, The New & Full Moons become turbo charged.  Mars Retrograde conjunct this is VERY Auspicious and it will be interesting to see how this all unfolds, as Eclipses bring very quick beginnings and endings; With Mars Retrograde, next to it, it might feel like a lot of the action is out of your control, or there is the potential to feel powerless, But I wouldn’t say it’s not in your favour long-term.

Mars retrograde by nature, like all retrograde’s of personal planets, are a time of turning inwards. There is a feeling of restocking, reassessment, contacting and understanding the very basics of how this planet and its signifiers operate within and around you. These are real opportune times to connect deep into how these energies operate in specific areas of your life. The fact that this particular Mars retrograde in Aquarius is so rare, alongside the contacts with Uranus, The South Node and the Eclipses all signify a slow down and then a speed up of a particular theme or story in your life from deep and unexpected places, with some of it out of your control. What you can control is your response.

Mars being the Archetypal  Warrior, how you look after your Warrior and how you might gain from letting go of outdated ideas, techniques, attachments and feelings will allow you to look at how your gladiator operates. Maybe the end of this Retrograde phase your strength and commitment to change will really surprise you !

The best way to work with this transit is to be active in the change, and to not be complacent. Reassessment of how you deal with Anger and Rage is always a good start point for Mars retrograde, remembering any avoidance of the above work will potentially explosive by the time Mars turns direct, later in the year.

Leo might have to focus on its relationships and engagements with others, whether your like them or not ! Mars Retrograde might FEEL like your giving away your power, but its more about understanding HOW you engage with others and taking the foot off the accelerator to see how you can do it in a way that honours yourself and others better. The Full Moon in Leo on January 31st (Northern Hemisphere) / early morning 1st Feb (Australia and NZ) will be a Full Super Blue Blood Total Moon Eclipse. It’s like a Technicolor assortment of Moons all rolled into one, where all the rare auspicious events a Full Moon can muster all collide into this one lunation,  which isn’t exactly a regular occurrence.  The last time we had a Super Blue Blood Moon Total Eclipse was 31st March 1866.

So what do all these words put together mean ?( A Lot ! )  Will it be important ? (Yes) Will it affect you ? (quite likely)  Will everyone go crazy ? (People WILL be weird, and things feeling slightly ominous)

This lunation is a Super Moon, like the past 2 full moons,  occurring when the Moon is in its closest orbit to the Earth. This means the Moon is 14% bigger to the eye, as well as having quite an intense draw to it.  If you’re not so sure about its pull and importance, lets remind ourselves that the tides are dictated by the Moon, The Emergency Services have recorded a marked upswing of work and activity on Full Moon’s and  Midwives also  to get very busy !  Lunacy comes from the work Luna, meaning Moon.

A Blue Moon is when you have 2 Full Moons in 1 calendar Month, this occurs every 2.7 years, hence the phrase, “Once in a Blue Moon”.  The Full Moon occurs at 0227am NZ time on 1st of February, the last Full Moon occurred on 2nd of January in Cancer, Australian time, for the Northern Hemisphere, these lunation occur, 1st & 31st of January 2018.

Full Moon Eclipses are when during its orbit the Earth gets in between the Sun and The Moon. The Earth casts the shadow over the 2 light bodies. The Sun which is radiating light and The Moon which is reflecting the light. How close the Earth is in blocking this natural mirroring depends on how big the eclipse is. Eclipses occur in pairs, when there is usually a Full and New Moon. They occur every 6 months in pairs. This will occur 3 times in a pair of opposing signs, which of course hooks into your birth chart.

Eclipses are basically a shadowing affects and in general, are very strange and powerful times. As the Sun and La Luna are blocked from their natural cycle, with a blocking of the light comes darkness and shadow. Simply, during eclipses information or literally things are blocked. You are not seeing the full picture, your vision has been obscured. The effects of  an eclipse can last from 2 weeks (till the end of the next eclipse free moon phase) or up to 6 months, when the next set of eclipses occur. The size of the eclipse i.e.: Total, Partial Eclipses tend to give a good indicator as to how influential it will be energetically.  This Eclipse will be a Total Eclipse.

This 31st Jan/1st Feb Eclipse is the 2nd set in the Leo and Aquarius axis, which means they are trying to forward a story in the area of life that these signs rule in your birth chart. The last time this occurred in your Leo / Aquarius Houses was 18.6 years ago, so eclipses are significant as timing techniques. Look back to where you are at or what changes took place 18.6 years ago. The first eclipses in this current cycle began July 2017, which included the Great American Eclipse of  21st August 2017.  An eclipse that revealed  how seriously imbalanced race relations still are in the US, as the Charlottesville Riots occurred in the lead up to this eclipse, against the taking a knee protest which had been simmering for a year previous.  Post eclipse, it was revealed how seriously divided the US still is with its internal race relations. A month after the Eclipse, you have the President of the United States calling on firing those players who protested, calling them the now infamous SOB quote. Casting a huge shadow over the right to free speech as well  race relation problems.

If you have your Nodes in Leo and Aquarius, these are themes that are running through your life journey, they ARE part of your life story. If you are in one of the following ages brackets, from July 2017, your nodes are in Leo and Aquarius  making these eclipses part of your Nodal Return or opposition, and very significant for you. 8 -10, 18 – 20, 26 – 28, 36 – 38, 45 – 47, 55 – 56, 64 – 66, 73 – 75, 82 – 84, 92 – 94.

Leo and Aquarius are 2 signs the are about the individual and the collective, Leo has a regal quality and Aquarius is all about collective society. When eclipses occur there is a blocking of these 2 themes or are an accelerated need to balance these 2 energies in areas of your life that these signs occur. Leo is a very creative energy, it’s very much tied to the need to develop or be in touch with your inner child or creation.  With Aquarius its more about being the audience or the collective that these creations or inner child must eventually present or be integrated into society.

So basically how are you going to balance the needs of your creativity and the collective ? and have you strayed to far into one direction ? Are you too focused on the individual / or the Collective, does the other side need a bit of attention. How are you going to recieve these gifts ? Another way of putting it is, Do you need to BE more of the central character in your life, rather than hiding amongst the collective (Leo North Node), or do you need to be less of your own character and try to integrate more into the collective (Aquarius North Node). This is the focus of these eclipses, with the tools of recognition and opportunity coming to you in an obscure or not completely visible ways, or with what YOU perceive as bad timing.

Eclipse are super charged New and Full Moons, so the fundamentals of what New and Full Moon cycles are, is present, but it’s just amplified and extended into a 3 fold eclipse cycle. A discovery, an adjustment or integration and a completion.  It’s an incredible potent & intense time, of beginnings and endings on an ego and emotional level.

In ancient times Eclipses were seen as times of great upheaval with lots of superstition around them. Kings were over thrown, Kingdoms plunged into turmoil, Wars won and lost. It is understandable why such superstition was attached to Eclipses, which fundamentally are accelerations of stories and themes to progress your life story. Like Yin & Yang, Light & Dark, Sun & Moon we need to balance both halves of life and eclipses are an essential part of these stories, through the darkness or shadow they create. No matter how much we don’t want to address them, and no matter how blinded we might feel, the merging of these dualities will reveal the magic of eclipses and the constant need to balance oppositions in the highlighted areas of our lives.

The Total Blood Moon Eclipses is an incredible natural phenomena which is both haunting and magical, especially this time around with so many rare attributes coming together into one lunation.  May the shadow it cast help light your way.

Saturnalia 2017 : Saturn’s return home to Capricorn

This years Solstice on December 22nd 2017 is the beginning of a new energetic reign. It is a changing of the tide, which peaks in 2020 with a tsunami of Capricorn energy, created by Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter in the sign of Capricorn. This is where a 248 year, 27 year and 12 year cycles will intersect creating a redistribution of power at a micro and macro level from 2020.

Saturn returning  home for 3 years is the next step in this journey, 27 years since its last transit of Capricorn, it’s joining Pluto in Capricorn. This ingress of  Saturn into its ruler Capricorn at the Solstice (When the Sun enters Capricorn) is a very rare and auspicious occasion. It last occurred in 1664.  This ingress is ALSO  occurring during the ancient Roman Festival of Saturnalia. It is the first time Saturnalia and Saturn in Capricorn have coincided since December 16 1870.  The 3 way synchronicity of these events show how energetically potent this transit of Saturn in Capricorn is going to be.

The Ancient Roman Festival of Saturnalia, celebrated annually to usher in the Solstice, was the biggest annual festival of the Roman calendar. Saturnalia, celebrating the god Saturn, was a time of excessive celebration, joy and hedonism. During this celebration, people partied to excess, slaves were given temporary freedom to say and do what they liked, and certain moral restrictions were eased. Saturnalia was a festival about celebration with the aims of bringing fortune and prosperity to crops as the seasons take a dark turn over winter. Once Christianity took hold, Saturnalia was replaced with Christmas.

Saturn, in Astrology is the god of structure, karma, authority, stealth, endurance, commitment, accountability, wisdom and time. Saturn is karmic and consequence. It creates opportunities to solidify and strengthen. Capricorn applies to government, systems, hierarchy, status, public profile, rules / regulations and external structure.  These two energies speak to each other.

Saturn is re-entering Capricorn to cleanse & purge after its last reset/transit  27 years ago. With Capricorn there is always a focus on  fairness and equality due to Capricorn’s moralist under tow, and its focus on accountability.  If this energy is out of balance this energy could turn into corruption and nepotism. This is what this transit seeks to clean up on a micro and macro level. Saturn = Karma, Capricorn = Public Profile.

To give historic examples, in past Saturn in Capricorn cycles; the Berlin Wall was Built (Jan 1959 – Jan 1962) and then torn down in Saturns  next Capricorn  transit (Feb 1988 – Feb 1991). In America’s Chart, these Capricorn cycles have seen financial down turns. A reality check to its usual confident financial spending and shows of excess and abundance. People who faught the law and the law won, were killed or captured also when Saturn got in to Capricorn. Ie: Al Capone & Pablo Escobar.  All these examples feel pertinent as we enter this transit, themes such as Walls, Finances, Justice, all resonate in the current climate.

Pluto has been pre purging Capricorn’s space, clearing the way for Saturn’s entry since 2008. Pluto had an explosive entry into Capricorn via the Global Financial Crisis. Pluto is all about transforming and changing the ways we do things, via deaths of old ways of being. The fact it has been paving the way for Saturn’s entry, makes Saturn’s upcoming transit more interesting with the potential to be more potent than previous transits. Any time Pluto and Saturn meet there is a redistribution of power. With Pluto a lot of muck has been racked around gender, politics, governments and money since 2008. Jupiter moving into Scorpio in October 2017 is amplifying this Plutonic energy. Jupiter in Scorpio also brings in the current themes of Sexual Power and Consequence to this Saturn cycle. Interestingly enough the Harvey Weinstein Affair came out just as Jupiter moved into Scorpio. Coinciedence ? I think not.

If you’re an earth or water sign, it will be an abundant flow of energy that comes naturally. It will feel safe with the feeling of being supported in what you do.   Earth IS Structure, Water NEEDS structure. If you’re a Fire or Air sign, it will flow but it might feel a bit more challenging as Air and Fire don’t like to be grounded or contained. Don’t be intimated, this is something you can handle. Remembering Saturn is making sure Pluto’s restructuring and excavation is structurally sound for you to launch off post 2020.

As Saturn enters Capricorn an earth sign, other major transits of 2018 help support this shift. There is a new distribution of energy into Water and Earth Signs. This is a shift from the past few years which have been more Fire and Air dominated.  Uranus moving into Taurus (Earth), Jupiter in Scorpio (Water) and Neptune in Pisces (Water) will finally have support via Saturn in Capricorn. Calming the waters after the past few years of volatility.

Saturn in Sagittarius over the past 3 years has been a bit of clash of agendas. Sagittarius likes to stretch its legs and get excited about life. Saturn is the realist and operates from a place  of restriction.  When Saturn moves in to Capricorn on December 21st 2017,  Saturn the realist will finally have a sign that respects its authority and need to consolidate and restrict before the next big push. Saturn in Capricorn IS this restrictive process. If there was ever a send off for Saturn from one sign to another, the current Mercury Retrograde conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius is surely it. Re-assessing the past 3 years before the mantra “constraints are liberating” become the new ethos. Mercury goes direct as the Sun & Saturn goes into Capricorn.

Saturn loves to create support systems and you couldn’t ask for a better planet to give support to such expansive and unrestrained energies such as Neptune, Jupiter or Uranus.  Earth and Water come together to make a lasting impact, consolidating the ideas and passion that has been awoken and seeded, with all the Air and Fire that has been dominating the past 2 years. Saturn will be the base note of the next 3 years, the under tone to which everything else will hang from.

Capricorn/Capricorn Rising 1st House: Earth

Capricorn has the stern facade of Saturn transiting their 1st House. Restructuring is the new cool. “Constraints are liberating” will be your mantra for the world to see. Your ruler  will be dropping all the fake facades in a very visible way as you get Harder, Faster, Better at life in ALL Aspects.  Capricorn’s love to climb and this is the hard work that will end up getting you places. If you feel like you have been doing this for a while, Saturn will support you in leaps and bounds, propelling you forward. Its going to strengthen ALL areas of your life, don’t get to sentimental about anything lost. You have some major climbing to do.

Aquarius/Aquarius Rising 12th House: Air 

Aquarian’s feel the heat of Saturn’s grind in their 12th House of their inner world and sanctum. There maybe a need to set up solid private practises, that nurture your spirit and soul. It could be a shift in WHAT you DO to nourish this area of life.  Either way there will a pressure around your inner world. Which shouldn’t actually be too bad. Saturn is the old ruler of Aquarius so it is an energy you are familiar with. Use the pressure of the searching and seeking to find the treasure that you seek – Personal liberation and freedom in your personal realm.

Pisces / Pisces Rising 11th House: Water 

Pisces and Pisces rising might feel a falling away of groups and activities they belong to as their hopes and wishes evolve. Saturn is all about re-assessing the terrain you walk on. Do the people I hang out with support this ? Am  I with my tribe ? Questions around this might pop up – working with this energy will allow you to find the people who support your quests and hopes and visions for the future. Pisces don’t really like Saturn’s directness, now that its amplified in Capricorn there may be an adjustment period. Saturn in Capricorn will be receptive to Neptune your Ruler, currently in your sign. So basically, there will be an adjustment period, before Saturn in Capricorn helps with your natural magic.

Aries /Aries Rising 10th House: Fire 

Aries will find Saturn’s amplification in the house he rules. The 10th House. The house of Status, Power, Government and Public Profile. Aries will have to comply. They don’t always like to comply, especially when its to other people’s rules. However Saturn calling you to comply and do the work will see a rise in your public kudos and profile. Potentially making you the star of this transit show, with your Capricorn buddies. Especially since Uranus will be leaving your sign after 7 years of shaking your foundations.

Taurus/Taurus Rising 9th House: Earth 

Fellow Earth Sign Taurus will see Saturn hit its 9th house of travel and philosophy. There might be some shifts in philosophy once Uranus comes to the party in May 2018. Taurus will LOVE having strong and sure support as it moves into very unfamiliar territory with Uranus beginning an 8 year transit, in Taurus. Travel and time out might be the remedy with such huge shifts in energy in the world of Taurus. Channelling the surest and steady feet of Saturn in Capricorn will guide you and be your leading light over the next few years. Gemini  / Gemini Rising 8th House: Air 

Gemini will see the need for compliance a toeing the line with other people’s money and any field of money that is not earned i.e. tax, inheritance bank loans etc. Perhaps not the best time to speculate, Gemini can use its wits and gift of communication and networking to sail through any unfamiliar terrain. Just be aware it’s not the energy you can down play or blow off, you will need to comply and commit !!   Deeper connections with people might feel heavy, stuck and grounding at first. Saturn in Capricorn isn’t an energy that really gel with you, but it will teach you to slow down and really look at the details of the situation before you play your cards. This is a very strong lesson for Gemini and their mutable ways. A positive and natural usage for Gemini to maximise this transit, would be to study some esoteric, magical or occultist study. By 2020 you will be the embodiment of The Magician from the Tarot, the card of your ruler – Mercury. That and Gemini loves to learn new tricks.

Cancer /Cancer Rising 7th House: Water 

Cancer, Capricorn is your opposite sign, it will see Saturn transiting your house of relationships with others. It will also see Saturn oppose your Sun at some stage over the next 3 years. What this means is your relationships with others is changing and perhaps challenged. It is time to look at things as perhaps more black & white, less grey. Saturn in Capricorn is pretty simple and straightforward and its doesn’t pussy foot around. Where Cancer might have compassion and emotiveness, Capricorn has fairness and accountability. Leo’s will have a re-structuring of its daily routines, work and health routines during this Saturn in Capricorn transit. However, Saturn is in its sign of its rulership, Saturn is Still strong. Just image the incredible opportunities you can have  over the next 3 years, using the lessons learnt over the PAST 3 years.
