Mercury’s ingress into Scorpio sees us moving away from the hostilities of the (Capricorn, Cancer, Aries and Libra axis) and dive into the deep chasm of Scorpio’s fixed water.
Mercury’s time in Scorpio is giving off a strong Hecate vibe, where looking deep into the stagnate waters gives opportunity to claim authority, authorship and divinity through these underworld waterscapes.
Scorpio is a private yin fixed water sign and a place Mercury can work well. Mercury enjoys the sharp focus and dedication that Scorpio offers. However, the strong emotional ambiance of Scorpio can detract from the clarity of information that Mercury is seeking. Mercury has started it’s 2nd of 3 retrogrades in Water signs for 2020. Mercury is currently stationary in the sky, about to move backwards, joining its neighbour Venus, in its state of retrogradation. Mercury joining Venus in its position of reflection, reassessment, and redoing is a double dose of inner cosmic hijinks, weighted towards the personal recalibration rather than pushing forwards with big chess moves or big goals.

This Mercury Rx, in-synch with the tail end of the Venus Rx in Gemini (which is a Mercury ruled Venus), along with Mars moving into a strong position for 7 months as opposed to its usual 6 weeks in Aries: just as Saturn is about to moves back into Capricorn, along with a Solar Eclipse in Cancer ON the Solstice.
Mercury’s rx, offers a good opportunity to take stock and think over, how our past and future meet, and how we can begin to move forwards from the places and positions that we currently stand. The Initiatory strength of Cardinal Water, means the Mercury Retrograde, is a good opportunity to sit and think about what and how our Homes, Families and Ancestors really sit and mean to us, as well as begin to digest our personal and collective histories.
Within 24 hours after the Leo New Moon, Mercury Station’s direct, from the watery shadows of Cancer, opposed by an even more shadowy Pluto in Capricorn. Mercury has been delayed, obstructed and downright frustrated, creating an energetic atmosphere akin to sitting in a dark swap land, waiting for the bus to arrive, to take you far away from the drudgery, only to find out the bus route was on a slower timetable AND the Bus has broken down. Turns out, you got nothing but time to lament.
Movements & La Communication were stalled, redirected, non-existent and frustrating. This time around the messages seemed more intense and damn right confronting. With no real traction and generating no solid resolutions, since the beginning of July, possibly even late June. Set amongst the Eclipse mash ups in Cancer and Capricorn, it was an especially gnarly example of a Mercury Retrograde. Frustrating, complicated and fraught with emotions and expectations. Dwelling, detouring and following these Mercurial Bends and Twists, was the only clear option, whilst trying not to lose your shit.
This is changing August 2nd when Mercury stands still to begin its direct motion, clearing its original Station point on August 15th. The dwelling and la communication dis-illusion will be but a memory. The week following this, Mercury will trine Jupiter, its first positive aspect since its post retrograde phase. Creating clearer vision of what this whole Retrograde drudgery was about.

The Solstice annually marks the beginnings of the Sun’s movements through The Cancer & Capricorn Axis points. Cancer and Capricorn are signs that mark the greatest imbalance of Light and Dark, no matter what sphere you live in. Reflecting the extremes of the light and dark in the physical world as we know it.
Since the ingress of the Moon’s Nodes, the Eclipse points, or Rahu & Ketu into the signs of Cancer and Capricorn (Nov 2018 – July 2020) this axis point has become a more sensitive and accelerated area for growth, and modification. These are points of change and create a deep push pull effect, working through deep and sensitive plot points of one’s life. The Eclipses of 2019 take place in Capricorn and Cancer. Meaning if you have any planets in Cardinal Signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn – you will be more directly affected. Planets in Capricorn or Cancer are directly being moulded, modified or purified. Planets in Libra and Aries are being affected by reverbs of these Cancer and Capricorn symphonic clashes.
Capricorn currently has a longer, slower, deeper and at times invisible story unfolding, with the 15-year transit of Pluto through it sign, creating situations and experience of deep modification to the areas of life, that Capricorn planets or points the sign rules over, in one’s birth chart. Pluto transit’s in duration are the longest and slowest of the Zodiac, as well as being the deepest and at times confronting and arduous. Any planets or points that Pluto hit, are hijacked for plutonic redress.
Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn is halfway through its transit of its home sign, making Saturn especially dignified and strong in its current restructuring and Strength testing, of all that sits in the Capricorn realm. Since December 2017 this has been working in direct connection with Pluto in Capricorn, by first sign and then aspect. It is creeping closer to conjunction in January 2020. Saturn is challenging the strength of ideas and concepts that are being build or trying to come to fruition, through day by day labouring. Pluto and Saturn are industrial purging and structural change agents. Since November 2018, Pluto and Saturn have had Ketu or the South Node join the industrial party. Pluto and Saturn are currently working towards a conjunction in 2020, in Capricorn. The last time this occurred was 1982, at the height of the Cold War, and the rise of Neo Liberalism in Western Government Policy. Ketu or the dragon’s tail is a purging and detoxifying energy. Ketu is pushing for release of things that are not essential or spiritually aligned to the planets or areas of life, its transiting. Ketu is directly affecting the Capricorn, area and placements. Ketu is joining and working with Pluto / Saturn and is creating an intensified experience. The Pluto Saturn and Ketu transits are catalyst of change pushing you to purify the grounds and environments your seeking to master or conquer.
Capricorn experiences are anything that is slow, and an area of life which reaches maturation over a long period of time. Capricorn energy is about things that you believe are solid, and sure footed. This solidity allows for feeding of, and creation of gains and overall reward after sacrifice and hard work. But what Pluto and Ketu are doing is adding 2 almost invisible layers of disruption, testing, to see if these structures are truly aligned with you and your forward momentum to the top of the proverbial mountain. Why climb to the top of a dormant or landslide prone mountain? The current planetary transits are testing this sure footedness. This energy will begin to separate by late October, once Ketu clears from its separation from Saturn.
In the Cancer corner, Cancer the only Cardinal Sign in Water. It is emotional source energy, protected and hidden way by a Crab shell, a tough front, water is hidden away behind strong barriers. Cancer is the opposite sign of Capricorn. Cancer energy is strong, intuitive, protective, nurturing and sweetness fortified by a protective armour. Once it allows you into the sphere, this is when Cancer energy can really be worked with and enjoyed. Cancer like Capricorn is hard yin. Where you have Cancer in your chart, is where, what you most treasure is tucked away, protected from the storms, protecting the source of emotion and intuition. Cancer energy is like a precious spring well, an individual keep hidden away, until trust has been gained, to share the source.
Cancer, has been experiencing Saturn and Pluto from its opposite sign, challenging this protective method. Meaning any planets or areas of life that are in the sign of Cancer have had this constant stress, purification, change, strength testing around its Source energy, for a few years now. The 2020 conjunction will directly affect Cancer planets and points. Putting real pressure on keeping its Water Wells, clean and protected, in the face of constant challenge from its opposing sign Capricorn.
Rahu or The North Node has been transiting Cancer since November 2018. Rahu, like Ketu, they are direct opposites, they operate together, by moving together as constant opposites. Rahu brings a new dynamic to the Cancer Sphere. Where Ketu detox’s or purges, Rahu devours and is hungry, and constantly consumes, like hungry ghost energy. Eclipses were thought to be an animal devouring the Sun, Rahu energy, is the devourer of the Sun and Moon. Rahu has an endless hunger and consumption, without proper ability to digest, or nurture being the bi-product of this endless consumption. Rahu can push you into areas or can provide opportunities to change and evolve, however, Ketu must also be brought into the equation. As they balance each other. Like a good food diet – the Nodes are constantly balancing consumption and processing. Managing their push pull is complex is part of the astrological process of June and July. Rahu and Ketu don’t necessary do this on their own naturally. It is through awareness, that mastery of the Rahu and Ketu can begin.
This June and July, we see Mars and Mercury transit Cancer, acting as triggers and accelerating by applying fast acting pressure to these longer-term transits highlighted above. This is creating the volatile environment of June and July. Mars & Mercury will be putting lots of pressure on to the deeper and darkest corners. June and July have great potential to create tension, explosions or confrontation. There will be challenges and questions about the roads we are currently on, especially around, Status, Family, Ancestry, Rooting, Home and Building for the Future.
Mars is in its Fall in Cancer, Mars and Cancer are not comfortable bed fellows. Mars is fast, aggressive, reactionary, Yang Fire. Cancer is slower, more cautious, protective, Yin Water. Mars entered Cancer on May 17th, but by June 11th we see Mars begin to activate Saturn, Pluto and The Nodes, by opposition and conjunction. Mars is setting the frame work for a very active Solstice period. Mars is very much the aggressor of this situation. Being in its sign of its fall, it doesn’t operate as it should. Mars in Cancer can see explosions of pent up and emotional anger or aggression. Rahu and Ketu can add, a deeper level of repressed emotional trauma or ancestral trauma. Saturn and Pluto – also speak to this concept of clearing out deep emotional trauma leading the way to better foundations or reconciliation.
Mars transiting Cancer,sees a match stick being raised and set. Not allowing Mars to burn off the deadwood, in a wet environment, is where trouble could be caused. This contrary situation (Water and Fire) means Mars WILL find other outlets to do its job, if the steam isn’t let off. The outcome might become more explosive than needed or required. So, if things do heat up, don’t smother them, the aim is to control the fire (like a planned burn off) rather than avoiding the fire, because you wanted to hold on to the dead wood. Mars is tricky this month, work with it.
Mercury will come to play as it enters Cancer on June 5th, Mercury is naturally fast and is a problem solver whose speed and rational brings intellectual smarts to the table. However, Mercury begins to slow down in June and turns Retrograde July 8th, beginning its retrograde cycle in Leo/Cancer. This Mercury retrograde, timed perfectly after Mars’ transit of Cancer, activating all the sticky points of the chart, really speaks to the 3-fold effect which is building around this time frame and the purging and re-visioning of our Capricorn / Cancer axis of our lives. Mercury Retrograde is here to focus down on and deeply integrate the fireworks or steam lead off during the Mars transit in Cancer.
Mercury’s Retrograde adds to this entanglement by slowing down, and stalling where smart ideas or quick intellect would usually over ride to alter a situation. Where Mercury would deliver inspired thought or problem solving, this retrograde will add extra pressure to an already pressurize astrological frame work. Events as they unfold will have the longer-term benefit of the Mercurial trickster, moving over these points for a 3-fold breakdown or chapter developments. But the overall feel of this will be of slow and arduous, for limited immediate resolve, in June & July.
Finally, the 3rd and final act in this triple whammy of faster transitory triggers is the actual Eclipses of the Cancer / Capricorn axis. Eclipses are formed when the Nodal access points (Rahu and Ketu), intercept the orbits of the Sun, Moon and Earth. Creating Eclipses. Eclipses are times of quickening and are turbo charged Full and New Moon Lunations. Eclipse energy is tricky and it’s not a great time for any form of divination, let alone clarity. The Sun and Moon are blocked, unseen forces are at play, Eclipse times are times for rest and letting things play out.
July 2019 has 2 Eclipses, a Solar & Lunar Eclipse. These will be occurring at the New Moon in Cancer & Full Moon in Capricorn. The effects of these eclipses can last until the next non eclipsed lunation or until the next eclipse in this axis series. IF you have any planets in Capricorn or Cancer, aspecting these Eclipses, these Planets will feel the effect more strongly in your chart than if you don’t, have any planets in aspect. Generally, Eclipses are just strange times, and general caution should be applied.
Overall, there is ALOT going on over the next 2 months, with much of it feeding into the larger 2020 astrological story. Eclipse wise June and July will hark back to December 2018 / January 2019. The next 2 months will have a more notable strength to it with the Mars transit of Cancer and the Mercury Retrograde that begins to unfold in July.
The overwhelming story of these transits is to be gentle and commit to processing or going with whatever pops up. Repressing it, fighting it, ignoring it or not confronting it will be hugely problematic under the above astrology, and inflammation likely, due to the Mars in Cancer element. Being active rather than reactive or defensive is a good way of dealing with such conflicting energy. It may feel like it is dragging on, or not developing, but the good news is come August / September, things will be in a much better shape and there will be a much stronger platform to launch from. Just don’t let Mars in Cancer make you, come up a cropper! and be careful of the webs you weave during June & July.
Pisces : March 7th sees a New Moon in Pisces as the Sun conjoins Neptune, creating the opportunity to set new goals and visions for the next 6 and 12 months. Mercury’s Retrograde could trigger some genius, creative or artistic endeavours. Mercury meeting Neptune, is a three-act play dominating the month. Be guided by the increased strength of your Intuition, and let things play out before deciding on any outcome. Chiron, leaving Pisces after 8 years, adds to the feeling of catharsis this month.
Aries : Uranus has been a disruptive, yet liberating influence in your life since 2011. Its shift into Taurus on 7th of March, releases that unpredictable under- current. Its immediate replacement Chiron looks deeper into the cracks created by Uranus. Presenting an opportunity to tend and nourish the areas of life that Uranus’ volatility disrupted. Uranus was the shaker and liberator, Chiron is the healing ointment.
Taurus: Uranus is moving into Taurus, after 84 years. Taurus and Uranus aren’t the most comfortable bedfellows. Uranus creates opportunities; to modify, update & liberate. Giving freedom to outdated modes and systems around things you truly value. March is the introduction. The Mercury Retrograde is highlighting either a deeper connection to friendships or social groups OR dishonesty. Its either or, no in-between.
Gemini : Mercury Retrograde this month, will be quite the weirding, stirring up possible questions or miss-understandings around your Ambitions or Career. Understand this is a phase, where a lack of clarity around the big picture is emphasised. Play to your strengths of mercurial problem solving as situations arise. Gemini is one of the few signs who can work well in this framework. Mercury connecting with Neptune possible side effect: Inspiration and Creativity runs thick and fast this month.
Cancer: It’s time to regroup and re-evaluate. The new eclipse cycle in Cancer offers you evolution at warp speed in July. March is prep and rest time for then. Nothing is out of reach, those born 15 – 19thof July, the opportunity or realisation will be upon you in March. Intuition is also strong, thanks to the Mercury Retrograde. Traveling? Mercury entered Pisces on February 11th, for its annual tour through the 12 sign of the zodiac. Usually its a 14 day jaunt through a sign, but for 2019 Mercury will be settling into Pisces for just over 2 months, thanks to its upcoming retrograde.
2019 will see the Mercury retrograde’s occurring predominantly in Water signs, with Pisces being the first expression of these transits. The Water element gives the Mercury retrogrades of 2019 a more emotive and internal quality, which differs from recent years.
Mercury being in its fall in Pisces means clarity and logic are 2 things which fall to the wayside, when Mercury transit’s the last sign of the zodiac. Mercury desires clarity, it loves operating from a space of understanding and rational to help negotiate day-to-day life. Instead Mercury will be navigating a blurred and muddy territory, for a more creative or lucid atmosphere. This is not Mercury’s natural inclination, or something it enjoys doing, but when in Pisces, its made to work within the Piscean realm.
Pisces is a sign of expansive knowing and unknowing. Of which the space for change, mutation and contradiction is strong, and at times overwhelming. Pisces is intuitive and unstructured, in the way Mercury likes structure, rational and pace. Neptune being involved adds to the destabilizing effects on Mercury. Neptune blurs the edges more, operating from the subconscious, or unseen realms. Mercury will cross and station direct on Neptune (19 Feb, 25th March – 3 April). Meaning mercury will be subject to strange bendings as he chases Alice down the Rabbit hole creating an almost parallel universe of messages, inspirations and whispers due to this Neptunian influence. Helping to create a dynamic and memorable Mercury Retrograde.
Jupiter squares Mercury during this retrograde phase. (23 Feb, 16 March, 12 April as Jupiter stations retrograde). Neptune helps create the vision, Jupiter then steps in to expand it. Jupiter is giving the big picture view to an idea or vision that was seeded, via the Neptune conjunctions. One planet is inspiring the mercurial, then the other planet is expanding the mercurial with faith, optimism and a big picture approach. This is very dynamic and mysterious transit, but what can be procured from it, is limitless, especially considering that Jupiter also rules Pisces.
Understand that messages don’t have to come through in a clear and logical way. Messages that are hidden, half developed or fractals of ideas ARE ready to be formed and developed, ARE more powerful and liberating. This is what this transit is really speaking too. It’s a great time for exploration and (un)conscious raising. Why ? Pisces / Pisces Rising – Finally people might begin to understand some of the wonderful traits you weave through out being, and into life, which you don’t always reveal. Aries / Aries Rising – Your dreams and subconscious will be activated, clearing out all the debris post Uranus in Aries. Leo / Leo Rising – Do not go into any debt, shared money or investments at this time, you don’t have the full facts or picture. The devil is in the details and this month, all details are skewed and changeable. Reading about UFO’s or any other unexplained paranormal or esoteric (i.e.: Hidden) facts or situations are far more fruitful than business at this time. Just enjoy the carpet ride and do big business invests once we are into April.
Virgo / Virgo Rising – Relations both Personal and Professional are unclear and all over the shop as your ruler is operating completely out of its bounds. Scorpio / Scorpio Rising – Scorpio is perhaps in the best position this retrograde, occurring in your house of creativity, it is a great opportunity for any creative hobby or venture. Conceptual and doing phase, not ideal for a launching phase. The only catch for you, don’t get swept away with any knight in shinning armour activity. Chances are, they aren’t what they first appear, and looks are very deceiving this retrograde.

On the 9th of November 2018, Jupiter King of the Gods returns to his home sign of Sagittarius (The Archer), for the first time in 12 years. Jupiter cycles are yearly cycles with a reputation of creating lucky opportunities in the areas of life, that this planet transits in your birth chart.
Jupiter returning home to Sagittarius in 2018, will be the break in the astrological weather we have been working so hard to reach, after universally speaking, a very trying year. Saturn entered Capricorn in December 2017, Capricorn is Saturn’s ruler and its a 27 year cycle which sees the karmic master coming home. Its coming home to rework the Capricorn area of your birth chart, making it a stronger platform for your personal growth and development. Saturn works by destroying things that aren’t working to create strong structures for you to build from. Saturn is slow and steady and this will be most reliable aspect of 2018. Saturn will give you gravity to withstand any changes, it rewards hard work over longer periods of time.
2018 is the 1st year / phase of a 3 year cycle. Saturn slows things down so don’t be making plans to harvest anything seeded this year until at least 2020. Saturn dares you to think big and think long-term. There is no short-term vision with Saturn in Capricorn, it is teaching us to do the work, do it properly and give credit where credit is due. It’s a pretty straightforward and simple energy, but its slow and restrictive which not everyone likes the flavour of. Things take time.
Saturn in Capricorn is the secure and safe earth that protects the seeds for the future. This is the back bone of the year, don’t fight it, there is too much going on that signifies that Saturn in Capricorn has got this for you. Unfortunately there is no way around. The Malefics

The Malefics in Astrology are the planets dubbed unlucky or those bringing mis-fortune. Thankfully Astrology has progressed a lot since this term was thrown around, however, it is interesting to note that Mars, Saturn & Pluto (all planets associated with mis-fortune and hostility) are all in Capricorn for most of 2018, due to the Mars retrograde. Capricorn is the sign that Mars & Saturn are exulted/enhanced or super charged by being in. Capricorn makes these planets empowered, you will be asked to use it !
This doesn’t mean you are going to have a bad year and have mis-fortune fall upon you. What it does mean is that there maybe areas of stress around you or some form of anxiety; if you don’t answer there call to empower yourself, or work hard with any problem solving at hand. There maybe pressure or external forces making things feel harder than what they should be. This isn’t a sign of defeat or failure, this is a call to rise up and meet the challenge head on ! It’s a call to climb above when any issues or tensions arise.
Mars is the giver of Fire & Power, Saturn is the planet of Responsibility & Accountability, Pluto is the planet of transformation & regeneration . These planets will be keying off each other on and off for a lot of 2018. So don’t blow it off, don’t feel defeated because you wanted an easy ride, step up and take the challenge, if you do, you will be rewarded. August – September Mars will return to Capricorn due to its Retrograde. August and September might bring back to finally complete or finally reconcile any issues from March – May. Once Mars clears its retrograde from 15th October onwards the dust will begin to settle and the Spartan warrior will be back on track and become high functioning again.
Uranus in Taurus
(15th May – 7th November 2018, then back for 8 years in 2019)
Uranus the planet of Surprise, Innovation, Rebellion, Shock and Change will be entering Taurus a fixed earth sign in May. Returning after 84 years, Uranus enters Taurus from 15th May – November 2018, giving us a taste of what its 8 year transit is going to look like.
Taurus is very slow and predictable, it isn’t one for change and is very happy with its comforts. Uranus coming to the party for 8 years will see Taurus having to negotiate and reconcile how it deals with and works with change, especially when its uninvited.
Uranus will be looking to shake up, revolutionise and change things that are Taurean. Money, Currency, Commodities, Food, The Body, are all areas looking to be revolutionised. The last time Uranus was in Taurus (1934 – 1942), the Great Depression occurred as well as the outbreak of WW2, to give an indication of its potency.
2018 will give us an insight into what Uranus in Taurus may create as a global change agent. It will retrograde back into Aries end of 2018, before settling back into Taurus in 2019. Globally things such as crypto or alternative currencies, changes in commodities and values, lab grown meats, alternative foods becoming more mainstream, 3D printing, alternative food sources, break through in food production and how we nourish our bodies would be the logical areas to be looking at with Uranus in Taurus.
Looking at which House Taurus sits in your birth chart is a great way to look at how it might affect you personally. This year, sees all Mercury Retrograde in Fire Signs. 2017 saw the Retrogrades in Fire Signs but spilling back over into its neighbouring sign. 2018, will see Mercury retrograde all contained within the fire sign (with the Sagittarius retro being the only exception) . These are the only major transits of Fire signs, until November 2018.
Interestingly the retrogrades do also spill over into other key transits making them a potent player in the introduction of other transits. They are crossing paths with other planets trying to work there magic.

Mars Retrograde

Mars retrogrades every 2 years, and Mars retrogrades, like all retrogrades offer opportunities to pause and turn inwards. As Mars is to do with personal power, movement and traction, Mars Retrogrades can be very frustrating times. There can be a real feeling that momentum is lost and that there is a loss of traction or movement. This leads to frustration and a need to vent, which is a potential pit fall of Mars Retrogrades. Once again like Saturn’s transit, patience is required. This is not a time to push forward, or be the aggressor in a situation.
Mars will be retrograde in Aquarius and Capricorn. Mars Retrograde will also be next to the Full Moon Eclipse in Aquarius on July 28th. Having a Mars Retrograde next to a Lunar Eclipse and the South Node, signals deep changes to do with personal power, emotional cleansing and the use of your natural talents, talents that don’t necessarily progress you in the way they currently function (South Node). This is heavy reworking of internal structures. It’s the opportunity to do some sacred personal shapeshifting. The results won’t reveal themselves immediately. Patience is once again the key. Its part of the 3 year progress.
Mars Retrograde is a personal reworking of your power, strength and how you wield it. It won’t be immediate but its a very powerful reconfiguration. Mars having its systems upgraded will be more noticeable once it goes direct from October 2018, and moving into 2019.
Those who have Mars retrograde natally in their birth chart, this retrograde will see a time of great movement and action. Why ? because it taps into an aspect in their chart that only gets activated every 2 years. Active retrogrades will activate a natal one if people have it in there chart. It unlocks the energy, allowing those who have it in there chart to really push forward. Venus Retrograde, like Mars retrograde, is a turning inwards to re-evaluate your ideals around the planetary theme. This time it is your Venusian ideals. Venus retrogrades looks at relationships, relationships with self, with others, your looks and style, as well as physical (purchased) aesthetics.
Venus retrogrades are traditionally bad times to invest in art, or alter your appearance in any way that can’t be changed back. Why ? because your judgement has been skewed, or you will change your mind post retro phase.
It is also a time to not go chasing after relationships that pop back up or re-enter your life (as it is a thing that DOES happen when Venus is Retrograde). Any relationships that do re-enter, tread carefully. Venus retrogrades are closing chapters, re-evalutaing and times of taking stock, its about rebalancing and closure, not powering forward to conquer.

The Astrological Highlights of June start off beautifully with Venus and Mercury going into their ruling sign’s. Finally giving them the chance to reinstate their full power and drive, after being stuck in the Retrograde cycle for most of the year.
Venus on June 7th makes her ingress into Taurus a sign of her rulership, after being Retrograde since late February. In her retrograde cycle she was challenged at a number of points by both Saturn (karma and reality checks) as well as being in the sign of Aries. Venus’s ingress into Taurus allows Venus to breath and make good on all her plans and lessons that have been fighting to get air time since late February. Venus, being stuck in this loop has seen lots of things being thrown around but not much traction for getting Venus things done ! Venusian pleasure will finally take centre stage and the pleasure of being able to do it will be twofold ! June 7th would be a lovely time to take a moment and celebrate it.
On the same day – Mercury who has also been stuck in the retrograde pattern this time in Taurus/Aries, makes its way into Gemini, the sign of its rulership. It to, like Venus has been stuck in a strange time warp, in a sign that it doesn’t really get along with. Mercury the trickster when Retrograde tends to play its tricks in the style of the sign its retrograde in. The Retrograde it has just come out of had the double doozy of being conjunct Uranus. The planet of the unexpected, change and revolutionary ideas. It can be Genius but it can also be chaotic. With Mercury’s ingress into Gemini – like Venus it gets to finally get some traction in a sign that shows off its, strengths, ideas, communication and technology; finally moving forward, in a progressive way. Strong foundations have been made after the Retrograde strengthening.
So with 2 of the most important personal and internal planets finally at their best positions all year, 3 days later Jupiter, the great giver of gifts and expansion also moves direct from its Retrograde in Libra. (Yes that’s how may planets have been retrograde over the past 2 months !). Jupiter finally goes direct conjunct or next to the Full Moon in Sagittarius, its ruler (party emoji). Emotional cleansing of the Full Moon & expansion, rebalancing and artistic growth with Jupiter Direct, The lessons learnt from the last 5 months, this is a nice reward. Jupiter likes to expand and make things bigger. Libra is all about justice, balancing the individual and the collective on artistic and egalitarian realms. It strives for a balance to all things both politically and artistically. There might be a feeling of new equilibrium as Jupiter enters its last third of its transit of Libra. Make the most of this before the balance of expansion and ideas moves into a heavier and more underworld or internal sphere, with its entry into Scorpio in October this year.
Mars enters Cancer on June 5th. Yes that is 4 planets changing signs within a week. Brings down the tone a little bit. With all the energy shifts happening across a week, Mars’s entry into Cancer sees a bit of a slow down around all the other energies who are working in their optimal spaces. Mars – your power source as well as your ability to assert yourself isn’t so comfortable in Cancer. Cancer is Cardinal Water or the General of the Water signs, Mars a Fire energy, it ain’t so happy in Water. What Mars in Cancer does do is bring down the Mars fire and energy to bring it inward. There will be more focus on emotions and emotional wellbeing. A positive use of this energy is to work through any emotional blocks for feelings that you might have. Therapy would be really good to do right now if you feel it would help advance you. The negative side to this energy would be to be malicious or emotional manipulative to other around you. Being to needy or even having a few drinks before the emo beast arises and is unleashed. Mars in Cancer needs to be contained and to be aware of, as an energy before you decide to unleash any emo stuff onto other people. Always ask – where is this coming from. Is this the best way and time to express it. Mars in Cancer is intuition and emotions turbo charges – Especially around the solstice ! when things may feel other worldly. But it might not always come out as articulately as you think, as Mars and Cancer aren’t comfortable in each others spheres naturally.
Full Moon on 9th June in Sagittarius will be a stonker of a Full Moon. Conjunct or next to Jupiter its ruler going direct. Full Moons LOVE something to Bounce off and when its next to its ruler going direct, June 9th will be one hell of a night. The breath of fresh air from Venus and Mercury’s entry into Taurus and Gemini will really bounce off this Full Moon and it will be the break in the energy we have been waiting for, for months ! IF there is a Full Moon to celebrate this year, this would be it.
The Sun entering Cancer on June 21st signifies the Winters Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere and the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. With the New Moon occurring 24th / 25th of June trine Venus in Taurus, The Solstice will have a nice Venus influence emotionally connecting us to Venus / Solstice type things. Nurture,Food, Land, Nature, Relations with others and Health. The Solstices are naturally turbo charged with a thinning of the veils between the worlds. It’s also great natural re-set button. With June’s positive and strong beginning the Solstices will be a nice time to reset and look back on all the hard work done in the first 6 months of the year.
Post Solstice – Mars our inner warrior must get bored with all this wonderful resetting and re-evaluation and applies some action towards the end of the month.
As the month closes Mars’s gets up to its old tricks and starts to want to break out of the relaxed jovial setting. In the last week of June, It opposes Pluto and Squares Jupiter. Mars is an aggressor and accelerant, a get up and doer. When it opposes Pluto in Capricorn its emotional and intuitive slant in Cancer begins to awaken a beast in Capricorn the sign of Governance, Status and Power. There could be some internal or external power issues between power and your emotions. Or it could be a reassessment of what you think of as a status tool, is it really emotionally serving you.
Mars squaring off to Jupiter might add some heat to this balancing act that Jupiter has just been able to stretch its legs on. The aggressive emotional assessment of what Jupiter has in play to keep everyone at bay, may come into question or is challenge. Perhaps from a personal perspective once again an emotional/intuitive assessment of what is Jupiter proposes internally or externally may come under the microscope, Head vs Intuition kinds of testings.
Overall June sees a releasing of lots of withheld energy and pressure, with things beginning to come around again. The pleasure and ease we think things should be, begins to return. The Solstice and Moons this month are particularly healthy and positive, feeding some great energy into this resetting time. As the month closes Mars may come in and throw a little tanty at the party. But hey where would be with out some Martial interference. Its nothing compared to what we have just been through for the past 6 months, right !
Mercury Retrograde, everyone’s favourite little Astrology number is coming back around again … time to get prepped for Mercury’s retrograde of is ruling sign Gemini. Outside knowing the Moon Phase, Mercury Retrograde is perhaps the next most known or spoken about Astrological phenomenon, closely followed by the Saturn Return. So what exactly is a Mercury Retrograde ?
Mercury Retrograde is when the planet of communication, thoughts, processes, learning, travel and ideas goes backwards in the sky traveling backwards for a small amount of time before moving forwards again. In doing so it retrogrades over elements of your birth chart. This is a time for reflection, delays and potentially opposition.This generally manifests in chaos in everyday life (for those who are at a loss as to what the hell is going on ! ). However Mercury’s Retrograde is becoming so well accepted in mainstream society once a friend came into work all excited after seeing it mentioned on CSI: New York as a reason by one of the scientist as to why their investigation had so awry.
There is ALWAYS a list of things NOT to do in times of Mercury Retrograde which I think is good to be conscious of but to be honest I’m not really one to stop life because of Astrology and you know what sometimes you have no choice in the matter so you just need to move forward and TRIPLE check the finer details that’s all ! Be the Virgo (Mercury’s other ruling sign). So traditionally things not to do during a Mercury Retrograde are the following .. Don’t buy electronic equipment as it will crap out, Sign major contracts ie: work or buy a house because there will be information that hasn’t been brought to light yet. Don’t travel, if you do it will be plagued with delays, be prepared for everyone to mis-communicate, forget the key information, phones going down, mail not arriving and so on and so forworth.
But see what I mean, we can’t actually live under a rock for 6 weeks 3 times a year, this is where the old school idea of Astrology being a condemnation and a list of do’s and don’t is becoming outdated and the idea of doing things at your peril is just lame !
Instead we need to go ok this is going on, I’m going to have to be more vigilant, be more focused on the details, I’m going to go with my intuition, I’m going to do ALL my homework as the potential for something to go wrong has just increased. If I can push things out thats great, if not lets not get all dooms day on it.
There are times when the Mercury Retrograde is good ! it’s a wonderful time to review ideas and themes that are pertinent to the house of the retrograde. ie: Mercury Retrograde is a great time to review your daily routines and work habits, good for reviewing your career, or maybe you get the opportunity to work with a company or in a job that you haven’t done for a few years, which has just happened to me which is awesome ! Reviewing money how you spend it or earn it, your relationships how you engage in them, these are very valuable things that the Mercury Retrograde offers rather than shreeking in horror and starting dooms day predictions for your 2 week holiday in Fiji. People are paranoid enough without having to add to it right !
There is a really high proportion of great writers being born with Mercury retrograde in their chart. Madonna has Mercury retrograde conjunct Pluto (the underworld /transformation stuff) in her birthchart … Hello in your face everything I’m going to say is going to challenge your beliefs so I can transform your ideas on Sex, Money, Class and Taste … Like A Virgin, and her Sex Book weren’t exactly subtle and were tres controversial. For a dancer whose vocal talent was always questionable it was WHAT she had to say and HOW she did it which made her a revolutionary. Without Mercury Retrograde conjunct Pluto, I don’t think she would have had such punch. It made her think outside the square and made her a very famous and rich woman along the way.
So Mercury Retrograde in Gemini what does this MEAN ! Mercury retrogrades are a 3 week period. However Mercury has to slow down, stop, be still before moving backwards so there is thing called a Mercury shadow period which actually extends it to be 6 weeks. Just be cautious earlier that’s all.
Mercury Shadow (4-18 May) Mercury Retrograde (18th May 11 June) Mercury shadow (June 11 – 27th). Mercury is the RULER of Gemini so this retrograde will be quite powerful but I think in a good way ! what you’re reviewing will be clearer ! The messages will be strong and clear. Gemini energy is a tricky little energy with a shortish attention span ie: reading 5 books on the go rather than just 1, and being a mutable sign it is both dualist in nature and manifestation. However mercury is happy in Gemini and its strong in Gemini which makes it a rather healthy retrograde. Mars will also be conjuncting for a time so it will be super strong, as the god of war and masculine intent – Mars power! adds a bit more oomph to these reviews/delays/confusion, just check your mouth before you mouth off as Mars might be putting more into it than you originally intended. Knowing which house (area of your life) that this retrograde effects is the key to knowing where this will be more pronounced in your life. For me, its in my 10 house of career and accomplishment. Mercury retrograde can and is a pain in the ass but if we change our thinking slightly it can encompass so much more that the normally thrown around fears traditionally associated with it. Time to turn the trickster energy of Mercury’s retrograde INTO the Magician. Be the Magician !

Cancer: It’s time to regroup and re-evaluate. The new eclipse cycle in Cancer offers you evolution at warp speed in July. March is prep and rest time for then.
